Painting the Memories of Home
May. 6, 2006
Our gardening day...

Finally the time has come to get going on the garden.  We borrowed a tiller from a friend of ours and got the whole family involved today!  Suza cheered everyone on.

Daddy gave wheelbarrow rides to eager helpers.

That was so much fun.

We all took turns with the tiller.

Afterwards everyone helped pick out rocks and clumps.

Now we'll be ready to plant.  Connor is drawing up a plan for the rows.  And my muscles feel like silly putty after all this hard WORK.  As we did all this I wondered what it would be like to be farmers.  I think I must be far too lazy.  This project sucked out all my energy for the rest of the day!

Isn't tilling fun?!!!
I can't wait to get planting, but I have to hold off yet as we still get some hard freezes way up here in the frozen northland known as Minnesota! Oh well, it'll give me time to rest my aching back and jello legs! lol!
Your pics look great! So fun to see,

It looks like so much fun! We love working outside together.
DH wisely decided and convinced me that we didn't have time to do a vegetable garden this year. I hate when we don't have one. But with him in school, and studying for ordination, and a new one on the way we decided that my growing belly wouldn't allow me to get all the work done. Next year.

May. 7, 2006 - Dirt!

Wow. You have Dirt! I remember that. ;-) Since moving to FL 2 years ago from MD I haven't seen good dirt like that in a long time. My DH made me a huge garden like that too up in MD. One year it looked soo good. I had big long limbs in shaped like a t-pee with pole beans growing up them and a really cool tomato section, corn, and all kinds of other stuff.
I was just thinking the other day that I have gotten so out of that. I spend more time inside than out nowadays. And now that I want to change that it's getting hot here in FL. I will have to make myself a big note and put it on the fridge so when fall comes - I can get motivated again.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm so excited. I got an email telling me that my bags of coffee were on their way. I can't wait to get them and try them out. Will be fun!!

Let me know if you decide to get some. We'll have to compare taste tests ;-)

Have a great week!

How fun! I miss vegetable gardening! I actually "visited" my garden (which is no longer) while I was in PA and I was so sad! Tell your boys that I give them kuddos for using that tiller! They are hard to manage, even with some of the mightier muscles! How fun it will be this summer to reap what you sow! Planting green onions? LOL

May. 7, 2006 - livin' on the moon

Love all your garden pics. I'll be putting in tomatoes and corn this year - I do not have gifting in the gardening area but I LOVE fresh tomatoes and corn so we're going to try it.

The Brewstation is made by Hamilton Beach. I'm totally enjoying it! As for living WAY out in the country... if you're referring to the drive to the doc it's because I went back to our old doctor because we haven't found one around here yet. We live in a small town but it's only 15 minutes away from a town big enough to have Super Wal-Mart and most of the other "necessities" and then only 30 minutes away from our state's capital city - Lincoln, which has all the dining and shopping options a Nebraska girl could ask for! :o) We totally love the situation because we get the best of "both worlds". I do like to joke though about how back woods this town is and just told My Beloved tonight "Babe, we live on the moon. They don't know what financial software is!" And I will take full credit for introducing the ladies of the area to scones and clotted cream. :o)

You are right tilling is hard work.

I look forward to many more pictures as you plant, water and sow your great harvest.
God bless,

It looks like ya'll had a fun day together, I love the pictures! I would love to have a garden but for right now we do not have a spot for one. even if we did I would probably kill everything in it, like I do all of my plants and flowers.
