Painting the Memories of Home
Jan. 27, 2008
Photo documentation...drumroll please....

I took her to Fantastic Sams yesterday to see if they could create some sort of camouflaging pixie cut.  She sat very soberly and penitently.  I told her I loved her no matter what.

Modeling the Donald Trump Combover with 2 strands of hair that escaped the shears.

Still sweet...I guess the silver lining on all this is that it's given us occasion to have some good discussions about  "Man looks at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart."  Most important is having a happy heart for Jesus.

She still looks as sweet as ever. Pop a barrette in and you won't even notice a thing. Besides, super short is still super chic. She's just ahead of her peers when it comes to being fashionable. Hey, better to cut the hair and deal with the will now than in 10 years dealing with a mini skirt!

Jan. 28, 2008 - Love the smile!

She still looks adorable, but aagh! I can feel your pain! Important life lessons though. I'm rereading Anne of Green Gables, so I can't help but think of the green hair. :)

The smile would have made up for a total DISASTER haircut, which you seemed to prevent.
She's a real pixie, not just the cut. Cute.

p.s. Did your husband know about or do CAP when he was younger? My son is loving it and may have future Academy plans. Just wondered what he thought of it.

Jan. 28, 2008 - brings back memories

Oh I feel your pain, Christa! Believe me it could be worse - you remember our little "boy" named Esther last Spring. Hers was a total boy haircut! When I saw inches of Esther's beautiful brown hair being chopped off to fix her "haircut behind the shed" by Andrew I had to remind myself of the same things. But it is shocking and takes a few days to remember she's the same child when she looks so different. She had a mullet too - all chopped up in the front and long in the back. :) Her hair is finally growing out again after almost a year! Susa's new look is really darling - the hairdresser did a good job with the repair job. And being blond and wavy you really hardly notice any imperfections. It makes a good teaching moment, reminder to keep the scissors up high, and a hilarious story when they get older!

LOL, this made me laugh so hard! I can totally see Anna doing something like this (well, whenever she gets any hair to speak of), so I will have to remember to hide this hair-cutting stuff. It could really be bad here, since I only use electric clippers--think of all the damage one little girl could do with a pair of those! : )

Suza is still so cute, though--good thing she's got that sweet smile so no one even notices her hair!

I know you were not planning for a pixie cut , but it sure looks adorable. Just think of how little time it will take to care for! Miss Sara did the same thing when she was little.

Kristi said she ran into you the other day. How fun! I wish I could just bump into you!!!

Much love,
maggie

What a cutie! A got a good giggle out of that story! I know it will never happen to me because my only daughter HATES to have her hair cut - the further away from scissors, the better. Let's hope it stays that way.

Reminds me of a time when I was about your daughter's age. I decided one of my dolls needed a haircut. Poor thing, it never looked the same. (I thought her hair would grow back!)

I'm sorry...it's just so funny!! You really can't tell, but I'm sure pictures don't do it justice. I am being really careful to say that we haven't experienced an amatuer cutting experience yet...knock on wood! You handled it beautifully mom! What about YOUR cut??? Pictures please!

Very cute. My dd (7) with many special needs has cut her hair several times. Most recently with a library card. I think she will have the shortest acceptable girl cut for a long time. Boo Hoo! I love long hair on girls. I think you got right to the heart of the matter with God's lesson.
Blessings,
Dawn

Thanks for all the sweet comments, everybody! God has a way of using my children to KEEP ME HUMBLE!!! And to keep me laughing. I really burst out laughing after I'd caught my breath during the first shock of it all. I just wanted to say thanks, too, for visiting my blog...just seeing all your precious names listed makes me feel so loved. It's like a slice of heaven to visit together like this...even if it's simply via the computer since we're all so far apart!! And I mean that for my HSB pals too! Hopefully someday we'll meet face to face!
