Many children of today view heroes as sports figures, famous rock musicians, and other entertainment figures. It is up to us to teach them that true heroes might be just ordinary folks who, with the help of God, do extraordinary things. People like their Moms and Dads, ministers, public servants, the kind person who takes time for children.

Growing up, we may have longed to be heroes fighting the bad guys and saving the princess, but as we grew older, we learned that being a hero in the real world is much more complicated.  Who are the good guys and who are the bad?  What’s really worth fighting for?
