Delicious Pumpkin Bread recipe!

Are you feeling like its Fall yet? Here in sunny San Diego it does feel a little like Fall. Our nights are colder and I tend to want muffins or quick breads for breakfast. I knew we had a can of pumpkin in our garage so we made Pumpkin bread.

This is the recipe I used and it's from Libby's. It will make four 9 x 5 loaves.

Pumpkin Cranberry Breads (I didn't use cranberries)

6 cups all-purpose flour

3 Tbsp. plus 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

1 Tbsp. plus 1 tsp baking soda

1 Tbsp. salt

6 cups granulated sugar

1 can (29 oz) Libby's 100% pure pumpkin

8 large eggs

2 cups vegetable oil

1 cup orange juice or water (I used oj and it doesn't taste like oj at all.)

If you desire you can add 2 cups sweetened dried, fresh or frozen cranberries.

Preheat oven to 350* F. Grease your pans.

Combine flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, oil and juice in large bowl. Combine sugar, pumpkin, eggs, oil and juice in large bowl with wire whisk; mix until just blended. Add pumpkin mixture to flour mixture; sitr unti just moistened. Fold in cranberries if used. Spoon 4 cups batter in each prepared loaf pan.

Bake for 75-80 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.

Enjoy!!!

The Learning Parent newsletter

Dear Learning Parents,

In This Issue

·        The Proverbs Curriculum

·        Special Offer: Proverbs People Set

·     Big News! 2007 Catalog

·        Uncle Rick Writes

Dear Learning Parents,

I'll bet you love the book of Proverbs as much as Marilyn and I do. You have good reason, because it's the ultimate guide to parenting!

Think about it: First of all, it's Scripture--inspired and preserved by our heavenly Father Himself. And Solomon, the human instrument He used to write it, was the wisest man who ever lived. What's more, he was the beneficiary of a special father-son relationship with God (see II Chronicles 28:6). And for whom did this genius write the Proverbs?  It's obvious--five chapters and several sections begin with the words, "My son."

If you want to know how the wisest man in the world, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, would design a life curriculum for his children, it's all here in thirty-one simple, interesting chapters. We've tried to drill it into our children in every way we could contrive.

So in this issue of The Learning Parent Newsletter we have a little treat for you (drum roll, please). Many years ago, Marilyn and I did a study of Proverbs and listed fifty things God wants us to teach our children from that great book.

Here's the list with the references so you can use them in your home.  It would be a great list of memory verses or--oh, you can come up with lots of great ideas on your own.  We hope you find the list a blessing.

Inquire Today!

Free, No Obligation Information from a Mom like You!

We are creating a safer environment and financial security for our families.

Here is what other moms say about The Mom Team...

"I home-schooled my 8th grader for the year I was forced into early retirement.  It was great to re-familiarize my relationship with her!

Right alongside that I was successfully doing my business each day while she was doing her schoolwork.  I love working from home, working the hours I choose.  When she needed my help I was right there, yet I had the freedom to work my business as well.

In all of this I was able to create a replacement income and will be able to make enough soon to allow my husband to retire.  We had always dreamed of being able to travel and improve our home.  I know this business will provide this and more!"

                                                                                                                                                ~Marilyn Overly, MI

"Home schooling my children was a commitment my husband and I made even before our children were born.   We cannot imagine doing anything else.   However, being at home full-time and having the added expense of school supplies and books was stressing our budget beyond it's limits.   I was so blessed to find The MOM Team 1½  years ago!!  It has made a very significant change in our lives!   I am able to work around my family, not my family around my job!   I am still home all the time for my children and my husband.  I am able to help with the financial burden for our family.  And I get to help other families do the same thing every day!   We praise God for The MOM Team!"

A Girl Like Me

It is titled, “A Girl Like Me,” and it is a short video made by African American teenage girls. They discuss what it is like to be black in our culture, and even redo an experiment showing young black children choosing between a black or white baby to play with. I recommend watching this to learn about what color can mean in our culture. The link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17fEy0q6yqc .

Momma's Guide to Quiet Times in Loud

Schoolhouse Store Spotlight

Prayer. The most important activity we can engage in and one of the easiest to let slide. In our busy lives it is so easy to respond first to the constant and “urgent” needs surrounding us each day. That “still, small voice” will not compete. It is up to us to place ourselves before God where He can work with and in us. Simple, but not necessarily easy.

Momma’s Guide to Quiet Times in Loud is a guide to living the devotional lifestyle in the midst of chaos. This inspiring and encouraging book is also available in E-Book format for only $6.95. The Heart of Wisdom Teaching Approach is for all homeschoolers that want to make the Bible the center of their school day. This giant 500+ page book provides you with the methods, program, and resources for a course of study where students spend half the school day studying God's Word and the other half studying God's world (academics). Also available in economical E-book format.

Learning that prayer is a way of life can’t start too early. Mathew Vol. 1 from Bible Story Songs has even your littlest ones singing Bible verses and includes the Lord’s Prayer. What better example to start with? A biblically based handwriting series from Christian Liberty Press includes Writing with Diligence, Grace, Power and Prayer. Our E-Book, Being A Good Friend by Miiko Gibson helps your daughter to prayerfully and carefully choose and make friendships in a Godly way. Corresponding Notebooking pages allow your daughter to create a keepsake Friendship Notebook.

We hope these resources are an encouragement in your walk with the Lord and a help in training your children in His ways.

-Dena

Making It Home Magazine

I found this little treasure through a friend's blog. I have ordered the back copies and LOVE what I have read. http://www.makingithomemagazine.com/

This is what their web page says about Making It Home magazine.

What is the magazine like?

Making It Home was conceived as a throwback to simpler times. We’ve tried to give it the look & feel of an early 1900’s periodical, with thicker paper than in most magazines you’ll find today. In an effort to give it a more graceful & elegant “Victorian” appearance, we use a high quality, off-white, non-glossy paper, an entirely black & white color scheme, and pictures & images that are intended to inspire. The magazine is approximately 60 pages in length, with no advertisements or classifieds.

Our writers are not professionals; they are real women who have not only “done that”, but are still doing it. They write from the heart, and their contributions to the magazine are entirely voluntary, with the intent of helping others by sharing their own experiences and perspectives gained through years of both success and failure.

Making It Home is a Christian publication, and the majority of articles are tied to scripture and the importance & rewards of following God’s guidance in our lives. Please read our Vision, Mission, and Priority statements on the “About” page; if you like the concept of the magazine and find that you also agree with our goals, you will probably enjoy Making It Home (our cancellation rate is less than 1%).
