Heart Maintenance:
Keeping Your Children's Hearts
Turned Toward You
One of the dangers in parenting is to overlook the importance of shepherding the heart of your child. What does that mean? Why is the child's heart so important? How does a parent care for a child's heart? This message, filled with personal experiences and practical suggestions, will answer these questions and more.
It’s A Matter of Identity:
Leading Your Children to Know Who They Are
When a child doesn’t know who is, who he belongs to, or where his power source lies, he is left searching for someone to imitate. Insights from the Identity Principles helps parents understand God’s plan for preparing the next generation for life. You’ll learn how to “seal” your child’s identity and secure their heart.
The Calling Out of Sons:
What’s a Mother to Do With Teenage Sons?
Around the age of 12, a voice speaks within the mind of a boy, “Ain’t no woman going to tell me what to do?” How does a mother cope with the transition of her little boy becoming a man? What is her role? What can she do to not alienate her son as she gives instruction? Answers to these and more!
Jurisdictional Leadership:
Finding Your Place in God’s Plan
Gain an overall understanding and practical application of the concept of jurisdictions by looking at how God is running the entire universe. This lesson is a companion lesson to the message on Leading With Vision. You’ll learn how to trouble-shoot any problem by applying jurisdictional principles.
Parents With Special Needs Children:
Life with Amanda.
Norm and Alma share lessons they have learned while educating Amanda, their 20 year-old daughter who has Down’s Syndrome. They will share insights regarding how to face the challenges of working with a special needs child as well as resources that may be of encouragement and assistance.
Ginger Plowman
Reaching the Heart of Your Child
There is far more to parenting than getting children to "act" right. We have to get them to "think" right and to be motivated out of a love of virtue rather than a fear of punishment. Ginger encourages and equips parents to reach past the outward behavior of their children and pull out what lies within their hearts. Learn how to move past the frustrations of not knowing how to handle issues of disobedience and into a confident, well-balanced approach to raising your children.
Taming the Tongue
Do you find yourself threatening, repeating your instructions, or raising your voice in an attempt to get your children to obey? Do you feel guilty because you know you should be faithfully training and instructing your children in righteousness but you're not sure how? Are you frustrated because it seems you just can't reach the heart of your child? Ginger guides parents in searching out God's truths for how to give a biblical reproof.
Bethany Bennett
Homeschooling vs. Schooling at Home
What is the system of education in which we've been indoctrinated and how do we keep from bringing it into our homes? Includes an overview of home education philosophies.
Reappraising Your Homeschool Commitment
For the parent thinking about abandoning ship or the one bobbing in a lifeboat in the whelming flood.
Jr. High and High School Curriculum
How do we choose Jr. High and High School Curriculum?

Deborah Wuehler
Remembering Why We Are Homeschooling
This workshop is designed to remind Christians why we have made the decision to homeschool, while offering biblical answers in defense of home education. Answers critic’s questions of isolation, socialization, and being salt and light; goes over the dangers of public education, the question of sheltering, and leaving a spiritual heritage for our children. Includes comments from some of Deborah’s children on why they believe in homeschooling. Beginning homeschoolers as well as veterans will find support and encouragement for the homeschool journey in this workshop.
Homeschooling the Rebel
“I won’t do it!” cries the rebel. Everything in life seems to be a struggle with this child. Homeschooling such a child is a true challenge and a tiring battle. This workshop brings practical help and encouragement for those who are in the midst of the battle with a resistant child. Deborah knows the struggles and talks about what has worked and what hasn’t and reveals some of the blessings of raising a rebel.
This workshop goes over discipline, structure, and the physical and spiritual aspects of raising and teaching a rebellious child. You will be encouraged that you are not alone and will come away with ideas and resources to help you and your child succeed in this homeschooling endeavor.
Marilee Coots
Auditory Processing: Key to Success with Phonics, Academics, and Much Much More
Adequate auditory processing skills are needed for success in phonics, all other academic subjects, social interactions, and decision making. This workshop will explain the importance of auditory processing. You will learn how to test and enhance your child’s processing ability.
Teach Your Special Needs Child At Home
You can successfully teach your special needs child at home and make excellent progress, if you will remediate the root causes of learning difficulties. This workshop will teach you specific activities that you can use to help your child become a better learner.

Specific Title: The Penny You Save May Buy You a Headache: An insider's guide to buying used books online.
Synopsis: With the reality that many of the resources that some families desire for their homeschool curriculum is out of print, on-line venues are one of the best resources for finding what is needed. This workshop shows some of the best ways to find your out-of-print titles, and how to avoid being subject to bad on-line transactions. Also covered are tips on how to find good reliable dealers to work with.
The other workshop I've been milling about (if I was ever to be asked) is based in part on my 6 year missionary experience.
Specific Title: Meeting the World at Home: Exposing your Children to other cultures in your own community.
Synopsis: Drawing from his experience as a traveling missionary, Dan Glaeser shares ways to involve your children in exploring foreign cultures in ways that don't require a vast travel budget. Using tools and experiences available in most communities, this workshop will show easy ways to being foreign cultures to life without needing an extensive personal knowledge of the culture. Included in this workshop is an emphasis on how early exposure to other cultures helps to nurture the early missionary seed God plants in the hearts of many kids.
Carisa Ruiz
Math Works!
This workshop will give the parents information on the foundations of math, and the affects of improper math instruction. She will give you tips on how to choose a good math program for your child, how to recognize signs of a child not understanding math concepts, and give you ideas on how to bring the enjoyment back to math. Come and join her for her informative class that is sure to help you in the following years of your child’s math education.

Developing a Love for Learning...Through Unit Studies
This delightful method is a great vehicle to help you reach the goal of inspiring a true love for learning instead of just going through the motions. We invest so much time Homeschooling our children …let’s make sure it’s really going to stick and even more – let’s help them love it. Unfortunately, too many homeschoolers fall into the trap of filling in the blanks and “doing school.” Jennifer will show you how you can bring joy to teaching and learning by teaching interactively using living books and notebooks. Most people think unit studies are difficult, just for those who like to do crafts, require lots of time for planning and for those who have nothing but energy. Jennifer will show you how you can simplify teaching, get more done in less time and save your sanity!
There’s a Teacher Inside You - Let Her Out!
A teachers genuine enthusiasm for learning is contagious. Learn how to unleash your potential to excite and inspire your children with a lifelong love for learning - after all, YOU are the perfect person to teach YOUR children! Jennifer shares tips from her personal experience teaching her eight children for the past twenty two years. Moms can be confident and excited about being a great teacher! Interactive teaching is the KEY and Jennifer will show you how you can get excited as the teacher so that it pours over onto the children. Your schooling will be transformed and you’ll never go back to kids isolated in a corner “doing school” with a pile of dull books!
Courtship: The Parlor and the Porch Swing
Jennifer Steward’s has three married children who got there by way of courtship! She claims, “While the Bible is pretty silent in regards to dating vs. courtship, it does tell us to love each other with a selfless love which is what it takes to NOT engage in frivolous relationships but rather to pursue a life mate when one is prepared for marriage.” Jennifer does not believe there is a “formula” for how to have the perfect courtship, but she will share some ideas and principles on the subject.

Focus on the Family's Truth Project in Roseville, CA
|
|
|
Dear Focus Friends,
In our world today, we are inundated with many messages—most of them rooted in false "truth claims," lies set in direct opposition to the truth of God's Word. We call this the cosmic battle, a battle for the hearts and minds of people. It is a battle which pits the truth claims of God against the lies of the world, the flesh and the devil. It is a battle over what you really believe.
Of course, when we, or the friends and family members we love, buy into these empty and deceitful messages, we suffer the consequences.
However, the good news is that God desires to teach us to discern between truth and lies, building our lives on the solid rock of His truth. This brings me to the reason I am writing you today.
We are excited to announce the launch of Focus on the Family's The Truth Project® — a DVD based small group curriculum designed to impart a systematic and comprehensive biblical worldview for all of life. "Given the widespread moral relativism in the culture today, it's more important than ever that Christians understand and are committed to absolute truth. Our worldview curriculum, presented by Dr. Del Tackett, is addressed to that issue in an effective and captivating way. It is one of the most exciting programs to come from this ministry in many years."
- James C. Dobson, Ph.D.
