Generations of Virtue Conference
Generations of Virtue Conference
Pomerado Christian Chuch, Poway
March 12, 2007
Have you prayed about how and when to share the message of purity with your children? As parents, we want to be the ones to speak with our children on issues that our own parents may have felt uncomfortable addressing. However, we often find ourselves ill-equipped to do this. To get the information you need, CFS Poway has organized an evening workshop with Julie Hiramine of Generations of Virtue entitled "Setting a Paradigm for Purity". Download this flyer for additional information.

KQ Ranch (Camping the Easy Way)
Last year we wanted to go tent camping in our local mountains. I called a friend that I knew had "a spot" somewhere near Julian. She gave me the name and number and I called and got reservations. We were set!
This is where we went: www.kqranchresort.com.
It is a membership campground so you may or may not have to go through a sales schpeel. (Is that a word?) We did and ended up joining as we knew we were going to buy an RV of some sort to camp in. We bought a toy hauler from Weekend Warrior at Travelon RV in Alpine. Many of the RV sales places are offering a one year membership when you buy a camper from them, so you might be able to enjoy it that way too. You can also camp with friends that are members for about $10 a night or so.
We just spent two weeks there and had a great time. They have a Jr. sized Olympic swimming pool, miniture golf and "sweet jumps" for bikes as the boys called them, plus much more. (They're ("the sweet jumps") really a couple of tent camping spots but they don't get used often so the boys with bikes tend to gravitate over there.)
What sold me on this place was their laundry room. I had just fallen asleep one night back in September in our tent and was promptly thrown up on by my then six year old son. I was ready to go home. The sleeping bag and clothes were disgusting. Then I remembered they had a laundry room. I just needed to wash our stuff and we would be good to go. So hubby changed sleeping arrangements with me and let me sleep on his cot. (He likes to sleep outdoors and look at the stars.) I was able to hang in there until morning and not disappoint the boys.
The grounds are safe and very family friendly. We met people from Redlands, Temecula, Escondido, and Yuma, Az. So if you're looking to go camping sometime check out KQ Ranch in the Julian area. If you're a camper you'll love it! |

About our Speakers
Colin Campbell has been pastoring for over 35 years in New Zealand, Australia, and the United States. Colin established the Tung Ling Bible School in Singapore and has ministered in New Zealand, Australia, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia (and other countries in South East Asia) as well as America and Canada. His burden is to minister to dads and "turn the hearts of the fathers to the children" from Malachi 4:6.
Nancy Campbell is publisher of Above Rubies magazine. Based on the scripture from Proverbs 31:10, "Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies
" The magazine is designed to bring strength and encouragement to marriage, motherhood, and family life. Since its inception in 1977, Above Rubies has grown in circulation to over 130,000 and is distributed in 90 countries of the world from its home base in Australia. Nancy has ministered to women in meetings, seminars and Retreats across the world; New Zealand, Australia, Israel, Singapore, Malaysia, England, Canada and the United States.
The Campbells have published study manuals for families, including, The Power of Motherhood, Gods Vision for Families, A Change of Heart, and The Family Meal Table.
They have six grown children, including a set of twins, and twenty-one grandchildren so far. Four of their six children are involved in the Christian music industry. Currently they make their home in Tennessee.
To find out more about the magazine write: P.O. Box 681687, Franklin, TN 37068 or www.aboverubies.org
Fashioned to be both a retreat and a conference, the Above Rubies Family Camp features the best of both. Many families cannot get away for a weeklong family retreat and do not desire to leave their children or spouse to attend a weekend conference. These camps allow families the flexibility to participate as much or as little as they wish while enjoying a mini vacation and fellowshipping with other like-minded families. Some of the topics include:
*Fulfilling our roles as Mommies and Daddies in raising our children to know and serve Jesus wholeheartedly.
*Building Godly generations that can stand firm for God in an uncertain world.
*Equipping Fathers to lead and Mothers to follow and the whole family to work together as a team.
*Providing our families with physical and spiritual nourishment.
*Living abundantly and continuing to serve one another when faced with the challenges of life unique to families.
Session for the husbands and wives are timed to allow the parents to coordinate their own familys care rather than having outside child care. This gives each parent a special time with their children to explore the conference grounds and activities. There will also be combined activities for the entire family as well as plenty of free time to be together or share time with other families.

We had a GREAT time in the Palm Springs/ Rancho Mirage area last week!
Last week my husband and I took a mini-vacation by ourselves without our children. Usually we've gone for an anniversary but never by ourselves for more than two or three days. Now that our youngest is five and our oldest is twenty-two we have a little more freedom for little jaunts.
We stayed in Rancho Mirage. Can I just say that the whole valley is just breathtaking with the beautiful mountains on each side? We went to the Indian Canyons in Palm Springs and hiked up the side of a mountain. At the bottom there is a palm tree oasis with running water, white sand and the largest palm tree (forget what kind) oasis in the world.
Before we went on down that side of the Indian Canyon visitor's center we walked down a different trail and came to a beautiful waterfall! There were beautiful big rocks and my husband and I had fun taking pictures of each other. I climbed up on one of the big boulders so he could take a picture of me. Well, that was fine, but then a man came onto the same trail. He offered to take a picture of the two of us and it turned out great! The funny thing unless you were me was when it came time for me to get off this rock. I have a fear of falling, so quite often I'll go up but am afraid to come down. Well, with my skirt on and my fear I decided I better slide down. This man was watching and I'm quite sure-amused and my husband was trying to help. So I slid down trying to be graceful AND keep my skirt pulled down to my knees. I succeeded with a wink between the two men I'm sure. I can often be entertaining in the I Love Lucy kind of a way.
I'll post more later. I have an 8yo that wants to do his phonics. Gotta catch the moment! |

Welcome Lisa Dorsey-Home School Nation California contributor!
Hi TOS readers ! My name is Lisa Dorsey and I live in Southern California. I'm very excited to be on board with TOS. I consider us homeschoolers as of the birth of my oldest son who is 13. I also have a daughter who is 10 and a son who is now 7 months. My two older children tried public school the year my son was in 3rd and my daughter kindergarten. That trial lasted all of 3 months and they were once again back where they belong, HOME. Homeschooling is a way of life for us, we don't sit at a little desk for 7 hours a day. We run a couple of home businesses and are big on multiple streams of income.
I personally LOVE field-trips, hopefully my children do too since I always drag them along with me. I'm always available to talk with anyone who is considering homeschooling and has any questions and I highly recommend to CA homeschoolers that they join one or both of the State support groups listed (CHN and CHEA) so that you can be kept up to date on any issues that would impact our rights as parents to homeschool in California.
I look forward to helping provide you with much useful information on fieldtrips and homeschooling in our wonderful state.
Blessings to you all,
Lisa
