I went to Jack Ts place yesterday and did a bit of school work
Yesterday Dad woke me up rather early for the transplant and asked me to have a shower! Then I got dressed and then Thom walked in the door! Yay! Yippee!!
Thom and I talked about lego and other boy subjects on the way up to Starship. When we got there Sean was playing on Thoms PSP (playstion portable).
I was feeling quite nervous and a bit scared. But I knew I was doing the right thing. So when we got up to Seans room, Thom and I started playing with Seans teddies. We were playing a battle game with them. Thom was using Seans meerkat as a missile.
Then the doctors came into the room and said it was time to go for the transplant. Gulp!
So we got to the second floor where the theatre waiting room is, the doctors came in and talked to me about it (Thom was with us too), and then we waited for a little while.
And then they told me it was time to go into theatre for the transplant. And only one person could go with me and that was Dad. It was a big room with lots of gizmos and needles and things like that. Then I had to start breathing on a gas mask. It was eight or nine breaths and then I fell asleep, it was very quick indeed.
When I woke up I was quite dizzy and confused and things were a bit of a blur. Dad and Mum arrived shortly after I was awake with Marcus to take me back to the ward. Then Thom came into the room as Mum left to see Sean, then Grandma came in and talked to me a bit.
Thom and Grandma left, I went back into Seans room for a little while, then I went back to Ronald McDonald House with Dad. We went to Sylvia Park where I got a big lego set for me as my reward, and two smaller ones for Sean. Mission Mars Lego!!
Today Mum and Dad and Sean and I tidied the Lego, it was a huge mess!!! The mess was finally put away. But it took all day! In the middle Sean and I went to play on the X Box we played Halo 2 and Star Wars Battle Front 2 I did really well at Halo 2 and so did Sean!! At the end of the day we had butter chicken for tea; it was yummy as pie – MMMMMMMMMMM pie!!

Illegal driving around the house
When we got back from doing some stuff with James, we got on the back of the Chev (that was the awesome bit).
Leanne took us zooming around and around the house. It was exciting. Once we stopped and then zoom we took off at lightening speed (that was madly fun ye ha!)
At James’s house we made ginger beer. First we cleaned the bottles (that was kinda fun) it didn’t take too long.
James took the labels off with a knife.
Syphoning the beer was fun.
However capping it was terribly hard,
We made an assembly line – James was capping, I was taking the bottles to Brent so he could clean them, then he gave them to me so I could put them back in the crate.
The cleanup was boring because they do not have a dishwasher and we had to wash the dishes by hand it was violently, pure torture.
Well you know how I’m homeschooled and there’s all these ‘back to achool’ sales, well the homeschoolers have a ‘not back to school’ picnic during the holidays. This one was held at a place called El Rancho.
When we got there, we went to a field and had lunch. After that me and my friend James ran away up on the bank to hide from the rest of the kids.We were up there for about an hour or so running around. We were eventually spotted and it was time to go to the pool.We swam around in the pool for quite a while and it was fun.I was watching some of the kids push each other in.Also at the pool, I climbed up the Lifeguard’s Tower.I was going to jump in from the tower but I couldn’t make the jump and it was too shallow. Then Sean came along and wanted to climb up; and the fight was on!
When we got back to Paraparaumu, Mum asked me to put my shirt and sandals on.I was still in my togs, so I went to the boot to get them and they weren’t there. Then I remembered, I left them behind at the swimming pool; doh!So Mum rang Mrs Hooper up and asked her to go get them, she said “fine”.
What we had for lunch back at El Rancho – chicken, mayonaisse and lettuce buns; chicken nibbles with this really nice chilli sauce on them that Leanne made (James’ Mum) and watermelon. It was a nice day. While we were having lunch I saw a large dragonfly, I tried to chase and catch it but it flew away.
I had a great day.
Here is a photo of Michael, me and James (on my left)
Dad was at one of his breakfast meetings at work and this guy called Laurie said “Would your boys like a ride in a Mustang convertible?”Dad said “yes”.Yesterday Laurie pulled up our drive in his Mustang and drove us to the train station where there were more Mustangs. We got to choose which one we wanted a ride in to Upper Hutt to where the American Car Day was being held.
First we went in a Mustang convertible that had its roof down but unfortunately Sean and I were sitting in the back and the wind was freezing! It was really fun being able to ride in a beautiful old gold American Mustang (owned by Dale). It was a lovely day, just the air was a bit chilly because we were behind the hills part of the way and it was early in the morning. We stopped at Plimmerton and Mum stopped behind us as she was following in Dad’s V8 and Sean got some warmer clothes and I swopped with Dad into the front seat. All the Mustangs we were with stopped at the Hayward’s and we stopped there too to have a look at some of the other cars.Dad and Sean changed into a green cool looking Shelby Mustang (owned by Mike) for the rest of the trip.I stayed in the same Mustang, in the front.
When we arrived at the American Car Day at Trentham race course there were TONS of cool old American cars. There was this one with awesome reflecting blue flames in the sun on the paintwork. There were these three dragsters on display and they were really cool and had big engines. When they turned their engines on your our eardrums felt like they were going to explode the sound was so loud!Mum let us have some American doughnuts from a little stand – tasty! There was lawnmower racing which we didn’t get to see, but we saw a guy testing one out.Mum said “Americans race anything that has wheels” when she saw the lawnmower racing sign and Dad just told me about the bathtub racing in Nanaimo Canada, that he saw when he was in the Navy a long time ago.I saw this awesome red Mustang; it was long almost like a Cadillac and we saw a car with all these freaky paintings on it but they were really high detail and they were cool.
When Sean and I were on the bouncy castle, for some reason it started to collapse.Sean freaked out and tripped over.I managed to get out before it fully went down. All of a sudden it went up again as some people around the back had fixed the problem. Then me and Sean got off and went on the Ferris wheel, which was fun. There were helicopter rides, but we didn’t have one.
After a while we all started to get a bit tired, so we looked around for Laurie and when we found him we said “thanks” and then we went to our car and we got buckled up and everything and went home.It was really great fun at the American Car Day.
PS - The Chevy Bel Air in the photo above was Mum's favourite car!

Farewell Party to Sam, Alex & Sarah
On Monday night, we had a farewell party for our cousins, Sam, Sarah and Alex, because they are moving to Dubai for two years. I am going to miss them, but I know they will be back. The party was a good party, there was some fireworks at the end and we had a big Star Wars battle on the big lawn with light sabres and toy guns. We also played on the X-Box (of course!), we played upstairs with the Lego. The friends that were there that I knew well, were Jack and Molly, Matthew, Sam and Alex and Sarah. We had fish and chips for tea. I didn't eat much at the party though, because I had a bit of a sore stomach. Me and Sam started spying on the adults for a while, it was great fun. Sam was almost caught, but he pretended to start playing army soldiers. My cat, Ginger, was quite funny in the orange room upstairs, he kept on walking all over the lego game we were playing, so I calmed him down and gave him some attention and he fell asleep!
Here's a photo of some of the kids watching the fireworks...
When I was visiting Sean, Mum came and told me that there was a huge Gingerbread House in the Ronald McDonald Room. So, we went to the room and there it was – a huge Gingerbread House on the table.I started hacking at it and trying to eat it.After about five minutes Mum broke off some huge bits of the roof and we went back to Sean’s room. When Sean saw the bits of the Gingerbread House he was very surprised and he also wanted to watch Star Wars. So, me and Sean started watching Star Wars, while eating the Gingerbread House, of course!
Every year we go to see all the Christmas lights on the houses. It’s great fun, Sean enjoys it lots, and even I enjoy it quite a bit. I like houses with the big displays, especially where we can go into the gardens to see the lights. Mum and Dad enjoy it too. We go all over town, across the railway lines to Kaitawa and also to Waikanae.

What it is like having a brother with cancer
Having a brother with cancer can be quite strange and it can also be an advantage over your brother! It can be quite scary and sad at some stages and at some stages it can be quite fun, like when Sean got the X-Box.But you eventually get used to it.It can also be interesting to learn about the human body.I can also try out new things and new places, like we go to the city lots and visit the Zoo and Te Papa.
I feel like I could take all my strength out on a stick because things get so annoying.Having a brother with cancer sometimes makes me feel frustrated, because I can’t do the things I normally do every day and things can be going pretty well and then they turn all awful. It can make me feel scared because I know my brother is having all these awful things done to him.It can make me feel happy because neat things can happen, like I went to Kirkcaldies yesterday in the Christmas part of the shop.Neat things can happen, like things arriving in the mail.
Me and Sean were playing upstairs in the tree house, when Dad called us down. I got down and went outside. Mum and Dad and a pizza guy were standing outside. I took the pizza and said thanks and we had tea inside the tree house.
Mum asked me to go get the napkins, so I went and got them. When I got back, Sean had locked me out!
Some guys came over the built a tree house for me and Sean. A really really cool tree house. It has two storeys, a firemans pool and a trap door where the ladder is to get up, a sun roof and a rail so so we don't fall from the upstairs hideaway. There is also room to sleep up there. It has doors and windows that we can lock and its weatherproof. I couldn't have anything better.

How I got into lego and why I like it so much...
When I was 2 or 3 years old, Mum & Dad bought me a big bucket of Lego. I liked it even if I couldn't make anything really cool. A year or two after that, Sean got some Duplo. He played with it and so did I. Then Dad showed us his old Lego from when he was a kid and Dad used to make cool cranes, and that's how I got into palying with Lego.
Why do I like it so much? Instead of having to buy a cool toy car, I can make one exactly the way I want it. Recently, I have made a cool stretch limo with TV's, mini-fridges and a computer. It has turbo-boost and it can fly. It has 5 V8 engines - does that sound like a pretty exciting limo! It also has Lego hydraulics and a wheelie bar. Here's a photo...
Hi, this is me on the front porch of my house, its a very big house. The other photo is my little brother upstairs in our play room, playing with the Lego. Me and my brother love playing with Lego (and on the X Box, of course!) My brothers name is Sean. We are homeschooled and we enjoy it.
We have a short walk to the beach, we love it there. We play army soldiers in the sand dunes and build great cities and castles in the sand. My friend Peter loves it there too and when he's there with us, you can't make us leave! He's also my best friend too. Peter has a little brother called Aaron.
The X Box belongs to my brother Sean, he got it for his 6th birthday. His birthday was in hospital and my favourite games are Halo 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Grabbed by the Ghoulies. In Star Wars Battlefont 2 on the planet Hoth, there is a secret place I know of and you can only get there with a Snowspeeder. Snowspeeders are flying machines.
I enjoy meeting other people and hearing about other places.
My favourite country is Japan. I have never been there, but I know I will like it because that is where my favouite food comes from - Sushi!
Hi I'm Cameron and I'm 9 years old and live in New Zealand. This blog is about Lego things I have made, and what it is like having a brother with cancer.
