~ Show and Tell Friday~ Our Garden 2008 Video and Moving the School Hutch ~

It's that time again...

This week I want to show you what I have been up to lately.

I have been wanting to move my school hutch for months now.  The hutch has been in my dinning room next to my dinning room table for the last year.  Well, I have been wanting to move it to my learning room.  That way I have everything I need for school in ONE room.  Sooo I mentioned on my cbox what I was doing. And little did I know that I would get a buddy to come along side me and also decide to do a job that she too was procrastinating on too. While Shani and I worked on our projects we encouraged eachother to keep going till we were done.  What a motivation that was !!! I did it !   Here are before and after pics.

Before

After

The hutch in the Learning Room now.

I have been gardening with my MIL and hubby.  If you have been visiting my blog you will know that we have been REAL busy in the garden for the last  3 months. For those who can't see videos I put some pics here too.  Sorry that the video isn't as clear as I had hoped. Ohhh if you are wondering why I staked plants is b/c they went to seed and we save it.   Enjoy !!

~ Tightwad Tuesday~ A Tightwad Summer Outing ~

Here is tightwad summer outing !  I found that going to a beach is a perfect tightwad summer outing.  If you get some sand toys (bought or scavanged from around the house) , towels,  floating devices, and some goodies to eat.  You are set for a very FUN and economical day !

Here are some pics of yesterday at another beach near us.

From the kitchen... I am needing to bake up banana bread with the thawed bananas I took out.

.

I am wearing...  my dark blue skirt and kaki green top with my pink and brown necklace.

.

I am creating....ideas for this coming school year.

.

I am going .... to drop off my 3ds at camp today.  I got to get going on finishing up packing .

.

I am reading...  Right Brain Phonics Program ...A Reading Program for the "Struggling Reader" ...by Dianne Craft MA, CNHP

.

I am hoping... to get my house wiped down.  I didn't get it done last week b/c of neice and nephew visiting.  We had too much fun. [0=

.

I am hearing...my two youngest playing with the words of the childhood song "Fuzzy Wuzzy Was A Bear"

.

Around the house... is things to clean and organize.

One of my favorite things...is seeing beautiful and cheerful sunflowers in bloom.

~ Something to Share ~ A Bit of Mother Culture ~

Karen Anderola who wrote "A Charlotte Mason Companion" and talked about her coined phrase "Mother Culture".  That is where moms are to never stop learning themselves.  To be well read and to keep learning and to keep the love of learning inside.  Which is then contagious to our children and their love of learning.

.

I am so excited !  I have been wanting to get back to my drawing for a very long time.  It has been 20 years sense I have seriously drawn ! :faint

.

And I have been wanting to get back to nature journaling too. Plus, I have always wanted to learn how to water colour.

.

Well, I just ordered two books that is going to help me in these goals.  I can't wait.  Well, I am going to have to.  I had to send the books to my mom's in the states.  ( it was cheaper for shipping and handling than to send it to Canada)  And when my family comes back up I can get going on learning to water colour. :art

.

God is calling me back to my roots of homeschooling.  I am trying to get back to my Charlotte Mason roots and one of the things I want to start again is Nature Journaling.  I have always picked things that had CM but want to take it further.  I would really like to read her writings this year.

.

Here are the books that I am waiting for and want to show you.  They are NEAT finds !:m.glass

Creating Nature in Water Colour An Artist Guide by...Cathy Johnson

Here is Cathy's website too !  She has online art classes and FREE Art Tips !  What a neat site.

~ The Simple Woman's Daybook July 14th ~

For Today June 2nd

Outside my window... Blue skies and sunshine.  My Handsome watering the peas and my two youngest talking to their Uncle.  ( My Hubby's brother and family are vacationing this week)

I am thinking...of all the books I have and that need to be read but where do I start ?

I am thankful for...   all the blessings God has been giving.  A wonderful family, our homeschool, no forest fires as of yet ( that are close by)  , and my hs support  via HSB and Cindy Rushton's Talk a latte's.

From the kitchen... are oats cooking and a carrot cake that needs to be made for Hubby's Aunt today.

I am wearing...  My kaki green gardening skirt and red v neck top.

I am creating....necklaces to be sold and plans for the coming schooling year.

I am going .... to be tying up seed plants today in the garden and picking strawberries.  Then make a carrot cake for tonights birthday party.

I am reading...  Right Brain Phonics Program ...A Reading Program for the "Struggling Reader" ...by Dianne Craft MA, CNHP

I am hoping... To get a lot of reading in now that things are starting to slow down a bit. ( hopefully)

I am hearing...The fan running on HIGH .  I think today is going to be a hot one.

Around the house... is dust.  I am going to have to do a major wipe down on floors, walls and furniture.  I hope we get gravel on our drive way this year to cut down the dust coming in the house.

One of my favorite things...reading books on the beach while my men are swimming and having fun.

A few plans for the rest of the week....dust and wipe house down.  I also want to move my school hutch downstairs into the learning room.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...
