May. 25, 2006~ I forgot Nature Study ~
I can't belive I forgot to mention Nature Study in my list of curriculum. I love Nature Study. This year I hope to take alot more Nature Walks and have us draw what we observe in God's big observatory. I would hope we can put in comments, poems, quotes, facts we observe, latin names to things, narration of what we observed in our Nature Notebooks. We have had alot of fun bird watching . I along with my children have learned the names of so many birds and to be able to just watch them , all their ways, and habits. We plan to use" Exporing Creation with Zoology 1: Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day" , plus "Night Science for Kids-exploring the world after dark" by...Terry Krautwurst. The E.C. with Zoology is writen with a Charlotte Mason Style.
I really encourage anyone who hasn't tried Nature Study , do it is so rewarding and satisfying.

We drew and looked up (well, I did that part) about Blue Spruces. I think the girls did some drawing about different birds too. It is all new to us! Unfortunately where we live it is winter for 2/3 of the year.
Elly, my 22 month old, has really gotten interested in ants down here in Guatemala. Unfortunately they are also the painful biting kind!
About the Wholehearted Child book. Only one Amazon reviewer gave it a bad review, they felt that it was to much. I think what you said gives better perspective. I'm thinking I need to take little bites of it, to savor and contemplate.
I enjoyed reading through your last several post. I'm with you, somedays I hate ending the silence of my morning time.
Your curriculum list for the next year looks fun. I'm gettiing more into nature study also. I won't cement our list until July. We've loved God and the History of Art this year. Also our Apologia science book.
I am really looking forward to using my Zoology book and Art History book. Thanks for telling me they were good. :)
You have a blessed day too :)
