May. 28, 2006~ Sunday Reflection " A Moses of Homeschoolers" ~
I have heard over the years from people who don't want to homeschool their kids or can't fathom homeschooling because lack of patience . I look at my life and where I came from in my own education. For me to homeschool my boys hasn't been by my power but the Lords. God took a simple woman and put a desire in her to great things by His power and not because I had a great education or lots of money. No quite the opposite. Of course we are a one income family. My husband is a waiter so we are not rollin in the dough. But he is a good provider plus I really belive when we live for the Lord he honors those who really do try to follow him and he gives alot of "back door provisions" if you wait and watch. My dream home is a real testimony to that. If is weren't for God putting it on peoples heart to volenteer there time and put on peoples heart to give things like inside doors or wood floor paneling for a 100 square feet, which he just did this last week,we wouldn't have much of a house. I am not saying we approched people and told them our needs or wants. No, we have just given it up to the Lord for him to do what was needed. Our God is an awsome God and he does reighn. He took a person who had great learning challages like Moses' stuttering problem and look at what has been accomplished and it wasn' t by my power. I had a lot of learning challanges in my reading mainly. I had to go to special ed. of special ed. for reading. Every half of an hour I was tutored in my reading Mrs. Barry had to write two hours of reports to get support for the program I needed from the government, to help me read.I look back and I am sooooo thankful for the school Librarian ,Mr. Cook, and my parents. Mr Cook kept encouraging me and showing me good books to get me intrested in reading. Plus my daddy loved books and really valued books so much that he gave them as presents at Christmas. I look back and I think that is why I love reading and the reason I didn't give up. Now I am a very advent reader. I am also a book aholic. So if you have a sweet one who has more need of time in their reading and it is a bit challanging for them to read . "Don't give up" and get them the" Best Books" money can buy. Also read, read, read to them. Did I say read to them?I hope to keep up my Sunday Reflections , hopefully with more a devotional slant.

I just found your blog from Lindafay's.
Anyway, the weird -or God -thing is:
I just posted about homeschooling/public schooling... and I answered an objection to homeschooling because she said she is too impatient. I said it was like Moses. >> http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/JacqueDixonSoulRestES/142382/
Anyway, I will enjoy reading your blog.
Many Blessings
Jacque
Mom to SuperAngel, jocelyndixon, rjdjohn316, and 4 more!
My dd8 struggles so much with reading and one of my biggest worries is that she will never love it and will not want to homeschool her own kids someday (providing she marries and has them) because of reading challenges. Now granted I am jumping ahead very far and borrowing from tomorrow's troubles which we aren't to do, but they are real concerns for me anyway. So you encourage me to keep on praying and believing the best vision for her that I can.
My dh also has a similar story to you except that although he can read well he doesn't like it still because it is so much work for his eyes. He gets really tired. But he taught himself to read in junior high school by reading the king James Bible over and over until something clicked. That is a great story to me as well.
I am so glad you stopped by Jacque, I loved reading your blog you mentioned. I do really believe in God lead others to blogs. I have seen it happen alot for me. :) So lets keep in touch , I love finding those who have young adults .( aka- teens)God bless your journey and keep me posted on your dd.
In Him,

I love hearing how you are doing. I know your dd is only 8, things will get easier. My ds11andahalf is 4 pages away from finishing "Little House In the Big Woods! That is such a mile stone in his life. We still have a long ways to go but "We Will Be Victorious! God is on our side, Amen? Amen :) Keep on keeping on and relax and know God is in control. I am going to go visit you now. God bless.

Hi I thought that I would let you know that I just posted a recipe for a homemade laundry soap on my blog. I haven't tried it yet as I am still looking for a 5 gallon bucket. But the people that I got the recipe from swear by it. There are no perfumes or toxins used and if you use the glycerin (vegetable base glycerin) the recipe could be considered edible and not have any adverse affect on you. Personally though, I don't think that I am willing to go as far as eating it since it is or will be cleaning my clothes.
Do your dd's have a rash to go with that itch? If so, I also have a recipe for a balm that will work. It is actually a lip balm, but I have had friends use it on eczema (not sure about spelling) and it took it completely away. Let me know. I am going to start using my blog for natural remedies, natural cleaning products, and healthy eating. Question and answer type. People can ask me a question on any one of those topics and I will try my best to answer it as quickly as I can or at least try to steer them in the right direction for researching.
Thank you for responding so quickly! I am going to blog right now. My two boys don't have a rash but my ds11 does get eczema , so that would help us for him :)
You are such a blessing and keep up the work God put on your heart to do with the natural remidies and cleaning products.
