Jul. 25, 2006~ My Hour Long Bread Receipe ~
I was inspired by Tiany to share one of My Fav's in the Bread Receipes . I use this receipe if I forgot to make bread or if I quickly needed to make bread this is my Most Fav. Quick Bread Receipe. TRY IT you'll like it.I hope you do. ***********************
My Hour Long Bread Receipe
************************
5-6 cups of whole wheat all-purpose flour
2 Tablespoons of dry yeast
2 Tablespoons of Sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
2 cups of hot water ( 120-130 degrees )
Measure water, sugar, salt , and 2 cups of flour in a big bowl and mix with a electric mixer for 3 minutes. Then add in two more cups of flour stir with a large spoon. then slowly add in remaining flour with spoon then hand when it gets too thick. I found you should not knead the dough but poke it with all of your fingers ... flipping and poking till it doesn't absorb any more flour. then pour a blob of cooking oil ( I use olive oil ) and coat it on both sides of dough. Take the bowl with dough and put on middle shelf , close oven door and let it rise for 15 min. ( longer if it hasn't doubled) . Pull out of oven shape into two round loaves place on cookie sheet and don't let them really touch. Put back into oven. Fill another pan with the hottest tap water you can get and put it on the bottom shelf of oven. Turn on oven at 400 degrees ( don't do this till just now) and let it bake around 30-40 min. Enjoy In Him,
LOL..I read her blog entry earlier and I'm really starting to think, "hey, this is easy!" YOur recipe looks easy and yummy. Ok, you just may have convinced me!
I love fresh bread! It SMELLS sooo deeelicious! But that is one of the things I don't bake...not yet anyway. I've done all sorts of sweets and biscotti, but the whole yeast thing is a bit intimidating.
By the way, I LOVE your new signature-- tres cool!
I've seen your comments on some of the blogs I've left comments on and I finally got around to checking your blog out! You blog is absolutely lovely! I have 2 girls and I babysit my 1 year old nephew all day while my sister works. I've been homeschooling for 2 1/2 years but I just started learning about Charlotte Mason. I let out a squeal when I heard your music on your blog, if you check out my blog you'll know why!

Mmmm... I love homemade bread. I am going to try this recipe. I try to make bread on Friday night for a special dinner. It doesn't matter what else you make, it seems that homemade bread just makes the meal more appealing.
Friday bread day worked well last year, because, except for math, we didn't do any academics that day. But, we are using high school curriculum now and already, it is taking us two weeks to get through one week of lessons. I am trying not to stress about it, but I really would like to have gotten all the way through His story prior to Marissa graduating and at the pace we are going, I am afraid we won't even be done with the Roman Empire. :o(
That looks like a great bread recipe. Thanks for sharing it. I don't recall that beach but it's been a long time since I was in that area. I do remember going out on Slocan Lake and being terrified!

I also added you to my friend list. I would love to see your list of favorite CM books. I only just started reading Karen's book a week and a half ago, so I still have more reading to do, but I didn't see anything in the table of contents about math. Do you know what she recommends for math?
My favorite Christian group is Selah and through them I heard of a duo called Secret Garden.....they are the ones that actually wrote the very popular "You Raise Me Up". So I happened to be looking for Selah CD's in the library and right behind them was a Secret Garden CD. I checked it out and immediately fell in love with it. The one I listened to was called "White Stones", which is all intrumental, but they do have other titles that have some words. I said all that to say that that is my favorite celtic CD. The duo is comprised of an Irish woman, and a man who, if I remember correctly, is from the Netherlands. I think he writes most of the music, so maybe it's not really celtic music, but many of the songs have a celtic flavor to them. And by the way, the CD is also really nice for Mommy and Daddy alone time!!!!!!!
i have some started and if I mix the starter sponge up the night before it is ready to go in the AM we have bread by lunch time. It is great. I have a started that is going strong since last March. I feel quite good about that.
In the meantime here is the recipe I use for sourdough starter, although I did get my first batch from my SIL. I would be happy to give you some, if you were closer. I love sharing my sourdough with friends.
