" This is what the Lord says: "Stand at the crossroads and look: ask for
the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you
will find rest for your souls."
Jeremiah 6:16
Some of the characteristics I gravitate to are..... Loyalty, Respect, Lovingly Honest, A Willingness to spend quality time , Warm and Friendly, willing to take the Good the Bad and the Ugly ...and who is still willing to be your friend. Someone who can take me with a grain of salt.(0; Last but not least Someone who will stay constant in my life and who won't fade away.
What are some things that annoy you about people that you tend to steer around?
Dishonesty, Judgementalness , Someone who trys to make me into something I am not. (God is already doing that Job, lol ) Someone who is short with people and who has no patience with others. I can't stand the popularity game. So if that starts to happen I shrink back. ( yes this can even happen when we are adults or even bloggers ) I can really stick by someone unless these things start to happen.
Here is a neat poem I found and plus...... Ecc. 4:8-12 is my MOST FAVORITE Friendship verse in the Bible.
I need to know if youre my true friend, will you be by my side until the end? Can I tell you my secrets deep, and trust them in your heart youll keep? We are neither of us without our flaws, can you accept mine as I will yours? Ill be a shoulder to cry on when youre blue, will you be there for me when I need you? No matter how busy I will make time for you, if you are busy will you make time for me too? I will take your hand and comfort your tears, will you hold me and soothe my fears? I will give you joy and many warm smiles, can we share that even across many miles? I will not forget whats important to you, will you remember whats important to me too? With you my most favourite things Ill share, If only I know do you truly care? If you can accept me as I do you, then I will know you are a friend most true.
that's a pretty poem..ive never heard anything so............................deep!! :) So thanks for the comment. i just got it and am now replying. gosh! i have fifteen girls who entered and only two guys.
It means a lot that you took the time to comment. I mean took the time - not just said something off the cuff.
I love the poem too. I wonder what kind of hurt that person had who wrote it? It seems the deepest thoughts are bore from pain. When I was a teenager I was a hurting little girl and I used to do a lot more writing.
Hi again, Thanks so much for the encouragement. I didn't get any further yesterday with my pies other than getting the pastry done, but today I got 3 pies completed and frozen and baked a cake. Yay. We try to do some juicing with our fresh fruit every year as well. Right now I have some apple juice and some blackberry juice which I'm treating like gold since I don't get to go out and pick blackberries very often. I'd love to have a vegetable garden to but I took a break this year with having baby at the end of February I just didn't feel up to it this year, but there's always next year : )
Blessings.
We used to sing a song in Girl Scouts when i was a sprout and it went: Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold. The older I get the more true this seems!
I would have to agree with the standard of a good friend. I think the older you are the more you appreciate them too. The friendships that have stood the test of time are truly like gold in your life. A very beautiful thing! Its also difficult to have many relationships that are so deep and wonderful, after all any relationship needs alot of love and work. Of course, there are many levels of friendships too, and I have appreciated the many levels that God has brought into my life.
To answer your question in your comment about hsing my older boys, I still hs River who is 16. This was a big decision for him last year. He prayed about it all summer, asking God which direction he should go. He chose to hs still, and he has no regrets. We gave Isaiah the same choice this summer knowing he was approaching his high school years. Isaiah decided, very recently, to experiment with 9th grade this year in our country public school. There are only 45 kids in the ninth grade, and he has played many sports with them through the years. All my boys play sports for the school though, always have, so hsing has never affected that. We begin to give our older boys more choices once they begin High School level. I will post more about it soon though to explain our philosophy on it.
