Here is my entry for friends4teaTeapot contest. I would love to win this one, (0;
It was 17 years ago.... I and a Very Good Friend had decided to go to our church's Retreat on Woodby Island in the San Juan Islands off of the Coast of Washington State. We had heard these two fellows in our Collage group needed a ride to go to the reteat and couldn't get off of work in time to catch the church bus. So wanting to return the same favor that so many had done for me in the past my friend and I waited to pick up these two fellows from work and then head out to the camp. I thought they would have their stuff with them at work but didn't. Sooooo we went to pick up their stuff at their appartment. It was later than I had planned to leave but .... that was okay. They told me that they lived on Capital Hill in Seattle. My eyes bugged out a little but... I told myself and them I was okay with this. ( not really . If you know Seattle you would know it is the very ruff part of Seattle ]o: ) So off we went. When the two fellows were directing me to their appartment they said to take a Left and then they said to go left again and again and..... AGAIN ! I was soooo nervous driving in this part of town that I didn't notice their funny little joke of taking me around the block ...literally. LOL. When we got to the appartment building my friend and I waited for the two fellows ... and waited , and waited , and...... waited.
I had a AMC Hornet ( the car) at the time. A small station wagon that was white on the our side and light green on the inside. LOL I had named it "Gurdy" b/c it was the type of old car you HAD to name..LOL. Well back to the story. They had taken sooooooooooooooo long I really started to get nervous. I kept looking around and looking at the people who were walking around and getting more nervous by the minute. I was so nervous and the windows really started to FOG UP !!! So then I couldn't see out and see the Crazy's outside the car.( as I called them at the time ) By this time I was crazzed myself of fright. ( no I didn't say I had been in the right thinking all this but it was comming from a bad state of fear and being very young and niaeve. (sp? ) Then ALL of a sudden the back of my car started to REALLY bounce up and down !!! I yelled out at the TOP of my lungs " The CRAZY's ARE HERE !!!!" I heard the two fellows who I was to take to the retreat were the culprits !!! Man Alive , I was sooo embarrassed !!! Now they razzed me ALL the way to the camp. It was a tipical RAINNY Day in the Pacific Northwest. The guys teased me all the way to the camp about my driving ( it was fine but they had fun any way ) Soooo when I got to the camp I wanted to KISS the ground. I went up to my Friend Marty and he said Oh by the way this is ...."Handsome" ( thats what I will call my hubby) and Handsome this is Canadagirl( he didn't of course use that name, lol ) . We were talking for quite awhile and I asked Handsome where Marty was and he looked around and we had no clue.....I guess that was Love at First sight. (0;...A year and one month later ...I married my Sweet Handsome. (0;
Heh,
i sometimes get the feeling that I'm the only one out there who is totally ignorant about this box called a computer! Now, when it comes to cooking, I feel pretty confidant there, if I'm not doing yeast breads or desserts....you could say those are NOT my strong areas!
Thank you for telling me that this post was up...hehehe Very cute story!!! I could see all the places too since I know that area relatively well! I am sure that Handsome fell in love with your vulnerability too. This story made me chuckle and smile throughout!
I have a question posted on my blog regarding having 3 or more children. It would be good to hear your opinion. People keep telling me that with 3 kids one is always left out...do you think this is true?
I'm one who works myself into a tizzy as well and so I can totally relate to freaking out when the car starts bouncing! It is very sweet that you eventually married "Handsome" though.
Have to check out this contest. We won't be going to the Little Bear camp. Sorry. There is going to be a family camp in Washington the end of September and we will be going to that one. I will post pictures.
Thanks for sharing your funny story! I'm easily freaked out too, especially at night. You never know what kind of "crazies" are out there at night. Spooky!!
Thanks for entering! I'm adding you to the drawing bowl! =)
I hope you have a great weekend!
Leah =)
A few weeks ago before I moved to this house with a laundry room, I was walking over to the laundry facilities after dark. I heard some noises coming from the way of the trash trailer, and I started getting all scared that there was a bear trying to get at it - it is just behind the laundry room - but when I got to the building I realized that it was just the ice machine making a lot of noise. I was really relieved. I'm so glad no one else knew to tease me about it!
Yes, I only have one son. I wanted more but thank God for giving me at least one. It is a long story but my husband is in prison.
The other boy is my 11 yo brother-in-law. He was a special extra blessing 10 years after the youngest boy. My husband is number one son. FIL is also a single parent at the time.
And I am a pretty patient person. No need to worry about that. I'm sure that would be a little confusing if you weren't sure of the details. Good reminder to me to make sure I don't assume everyone knows who BIL is, especially since I'm old enough to be his mother (20 year difference).
Hi, you'll have so much fun when you get your animals. We have chickens just for the eggs but hopefully next year I will be able to get meat birds. I love the fresh taste of them but hate the work of plucking. It's a really smelly job! We have had rabbits in the past as well as pets and as meat even had a goat but I would strongly recommend making sure he is neutered unless you plan to breed with him.
Right now we have the chickens, an angus cow for meat this fall, and the geese which so far have just been for eggs but I'm hoping that they will breed succesfully and then we will be able to use them for meat as well. I'd like to get some sheep or alpaca's because I spin and the alpaca fleece is absolutely gorgeous. And K would love to have a horse but we don't have a barn for a horse yet but in the near future hopefully.
Blessings.
