Sep. 1, 2006~ The beginings of " The House that God Built " ~
What a eventful last couple of days ! We have watched my hubby( he is in the red Canadian baseball cap) and my oldest two ds help the building crew with putting in the foundation of our ...house to be.
I love that my boys are getting a chance to see first hand HOW a house is built. Today my 1ds is going to help with putting up the forms for the walls of the basement. The cement trucks will come then on Wednesday for pouring of the walls. My 4ds is very excited about that because it will be his Birthday. We walk about a mile up the hill from our rental home to where our homestead is to watch all the excitment. I am happy to say I put up a slide show on my side bar but I hope with time 1ds will help make it get better and better . He is very creative with the computer and I want to give him a chance to learn more and more about HMTL. Maybe some day I can say I am a techie too. lol.
You slavedriver! You even have the dog working?! ;-)
That is so fabulous that your boys can take part in the building of your home. They will learn sooo much that way and it will keep them from being intimidated by the thought of any future repairs of their own homes. For me, though, I usually think That's it?! That's all that is between me and the elements? Some wood, insulation and drywall?!
You have some lovely trees there and some strong young men-- you are indeed blessed!
What a great opportunity for you all to see how a house is built! And to get to help is even better. You pictures are great, the foundation, shooting level lines, the dog, you with you tea!! Thanks for sharing this with us! Have a blessed day!

I was asked if we had a dog. No I ( or family doesn't ) but MIL does . (0: I am glad that she does b/c my hubby won't get a dog and that way when we are up there my boys can play with Micah the dog. My boys love her. I was also asked .....Is the foundation on different levels? Well yes. There are 2 levels . Up stairs is the Main level and downstairs is a walk in basement that is FULLY used. There is no wasted space anywhere. (0: I will have a frount door from the drive way up above and a side door with stairs outside down towards the fruit orchard and a basement door going in on the bottom level. The basement is set into the hill and is will be covered on three sides with dirt. One side will be exposed and have nice sized windows and one door to the outside. I plan to do a picture tour when it is done ! (0:
Thanks for asking (0:
In Him,
Love your slide show!! Looks like you are off to a great start and what a wonderful experience for you boys to be able to participate in the building of their home : )
We will continue to keep you in our prayers and can't wait to see more photos in the future.
PS. I answered the questions you tagged me with : )

How exciting!! And the view is simply gorgeous...you all must be so thrilled. What a learning experience, too, for your DC! I hope you'll keep us updated throughout the process with photos...this is too exciting!!!
Thank you so much. that really means a lot to me that you wished me a happy birthday. i hope your day was great. thank you so much. lol, i just said that but really THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is really a awesome experience to be able to see things like this being done. Especially if it is your own house! I pray that it will be a fast process and no more problems arise. I know it will bring you all closer as a family and a lot of new beginnings will happen in this new home of yours.
I know it will be a GREAT learning experience for the boys. I know I could prob build my own house, just from helping my dad do ours. I can do siding, drywall, flooring, mudding, sanding, painting, anything.
CONGRATS RAWICKS!
Thanks SSIC for all your encouraging words to me!
Okay my dear...I want to know your story. Why do you call this the "house that God built". Are you native Canadian? Where exactly do you live in Canada? I'm gonna look you up.
I LOVE YOUR BLOG. I see where you come and visit mine. Mine is very plain. YOURS is very fancy! I am thrilled about the house. What a great experience for your boys.

I too love the fact that the boys are intimately involved in building our house. It has been a real life learning experience for them! God has richly blessed us, hasn't He?
