Sep. 8, 2006~ Rededicating My Homeschool to the Lord ~
It really gets back to the Word being the foundation of Education FIRST ... then comes accademics along side . I have for sooooo long wanted to encorperate scrap booking and HOWTA portal show how !!!
I love how Robin uses Charlotte Mason and more in a very exciting way.
Your post really touched me. I feel EXACTLY the same way. I want the boys to be firm in their beliefs and standing before the Lord, first and foremost.
It is such a challenge to know how to answer and fulfill so many of their questions and needs. I think that we do need to give our hsing over to the Lord, for He is the ONLY one who knows what each of our children really need. It is tough to remember that sometimes though. River is 16 now and he talks about getting on his own, and he wonders how successful he will be. I need to pray more about this, because I don't know the answers without God.
God is faithful. He has given us His Word, His Holy Spirit, and all of these wonderful, sweet sisters-in-Christ to encourage us and share their wisdom.
He is surely with you. Keep sharing your experiences and your knowledge with all of us so we may grow too!
I feel the same way about the Elijah catalog! I posted it as one of the books that changed my life, and I had another bloggerfriend ask me why... You are correct! It was a new, fresh wind.... blown in from the LORD to open my eyes to His way of teaching!! I knew it would be a great encouragement and wealth of information for you!!
Though it is from 2005, it is still available on their site, and I would encourage EVERYONE to get one! I have a VERY worn copy and 1extra... I will be ordering a few more for my dd's and sons...
Be blessed SSIC....
Jacque
Hi there! That sure was an encouraging post. I've been reading all over the HSB lately and one thing rings loud and clear, WE WANT OUR CHILDREN TO LOVE & KNOW THE LORD MOST OF ALL!!
Hope things are moving along with the easement issues and that you see the Lord's hand at every turn. He is so faithful isn't He?
Good to see what is going on. Lots of good stuff as usual. I am excited for you and what God is doing with your house - what a great story. I have a feeling that the testimony of this house will open lots of doors to share with people when you practice hospitality. And it is a testimony to your boys which is so vital to their spiritual lives. Sounds like you are a doing a great job with them. May God bless you.
I am soliciting your wonderful spirit and your experience as a homeschool Mom of 10 years!!
I had an anonymous comment, shaming me for keeping my children home and under-educating them!
tsk, tsk.... HA!
Anyway, I would value your comment, and those of your friends!
Homeshooling in Indiana may get tougher.... but, this attitude affects ALL homeschoolers!. Feel free to share your heart! I left a rather long comment to the anon, comment... sorry the post is pretty long!
Take care, ssic,
Jacque
As our children get older, our hearts get heavier for them, eh? :) Home school is deffinatly no small task but a true laying of ones self down for a Brother (or sons). I am so glad that you have been encouraged.
To answer your question about when my 5 year old turns 6 - that was on September 1st.
And I haven't forgotten about getting you the e mail address for that family camp in Washington.
That address is - www.penielranch.org - they are very new and still in the building stages right now. It looks like we get to stay in a cabin though. I am very excited about this. :)
Thanks for leaving me a sweet encouragement to wake up to this am.
I wanted to let you know that I ordered the Elijah catalog last night. I also spent a while perusing the HOW website and the "scrapbooking to learn" website that I linked from there. That is one of the best lapbook websites I've found in my search so far. I may just have to break out the stuff and try one.
The director of the base came and looked at our porch last night. It looks like they will start closing it in soon. I will post pics as they go. God is good!
Have a great weekend and wonderful Sunday tomorrow.
That is so very encouraging! We should all redidicate our lives, homeschool, children and everything to the Lord. Thanks for sharing such uplifting thoughts!
You are so right! I've had some similar thoughts with my DS14....we are really focusing on Bible study and a christian worldview this year...Thank you for the great resources and links...these are all new ones to me...I will thoroughly enjoy checking them out.
LOVE your slideshow...what beautiful land...looking out the window will be a daily reminder of God's beautiful handiwork!
I know firsthand about the young adult trials you are talking about!! I know how hard you are trying to become the woman, wife and mother God wants you to be and I know that we young adults can make that the hardest thing!! My prayers are with you!!
I hope this will be a prosperous and growing school year for all the Rawicks!! I know what you have planned sounds fun!!
How is the new home coming?? Pics look GREAT!! It is an AWESOME journey and learning experience, huh??
I'm glad that you are giving your homeschooling to the Lord! It would be a very big burden if we didn't have Him to lean on when we were having some trouble with planning, teaching, and TRYING to do the will of the Lord.... I have a dislike of MATH and have been avoiding doing for a long time but last night, Mom and I were talking about how much I need to work on it and she is right!
I did a lesson today of MATH!! I'm doing the SAXON MATH, that's what we are going to be doing.
I'm glad your son was pleased to have a post written about his birthday, (even if it waas a little late in the making!) That was a very cute picture of the knight you got on your blog for him! did you make it or get it off some where else?
I'm glad you got to come to my blog and have a look at it! I was going to post a comment on your's and your sons' but never got to!!
Take care, big sweet sister in Christ!
I hope you find peace in the Lord as you are going through this trail with your dss... Thank you for you comment on my Deborah post. I am glad I can help you. That's what I'm here for. I know I am young but as Timothy said.. "Do not look down onme because I am young..." I hope that I may touch more live like I have touched yours! I will be on later tonight if you want to IM!
Garo galu vaer (Have a Blessed day!)
Sincerely,
Jocelyn
Ps I posted for EoNenmacil... I knew he wouldn't mind... ;-)
I am tired too and having a hard time getting going. Thanks for being so open ~ I would hate to think I was the only one who sometimes felt that way. I had been considering purchasing the Elijah Company catalog, perhaps I will try to budget it in for next month.
Oh, what an excellent and encouraging post!! Thank you so much. I am going to check out your links. I think I have heard of elijahcompany. Is the head of that Norm Wakefield? I heard him speak at last year's conventiona and he was excellent and inspired me in ways I had never been inspired before. I wonder if it's the same company.
Anyway, thank you for sharing all this. Holly
it's nice to hear from you! We haven't talked in like five days!!!!!!! That's gotta be a world record!!!! Well, I'm glad that you enjoy reading my thoughts!!
I think I already left you a comment on this one, are you going to post something else while your on???
