~ 2006 Holiday Edition of Getting to Know Your Friends! ~

2006 Holiday Edition of Getting to Know Your Friends!

You know the drill. Highlight, copy, and paste  and change
My answers to your answers, AND POST ! Enjoy!!
Everyone has time for a few moments of fun! Don't be a scrooge!!!

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Both is Good

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree?
I have to admit we don't do the Santa thing.  But we do teach to give like the REAL  St. Nicholas.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
colored, I use to have white but in the last year or two my kids convinced me to switch. lol

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
I think I have once or twice but it is randomly done.

5. When do you put your decorations up?
I  try to put it  up a week before Christmas ( my growing up tradition  )  and  use to take it down by New Years's Day.  But my  Hubby's tradition  was to put  up the tree  on  Christmas Eve and take it down  on the 12th day of Christmas.  So  now we put up  a week  before Christmas and take it down on January 6th.  Best of both worlds . ( thank goodness our tree is freshly cut down from our propery and it will last , lol )

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert?)
Perogies ( we have them on Christmas eve.  I was trying to have a meal that would be kind of a Shepherd type of meal.  Im not saying shepherds would have eaten them but it is a humble type of meal.

Perogies ( how to make and recipe )

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child:

Everybody would gather around the tree to open the presents and my Mom would be the last to get there and she would say " Christmas Gift!"  That would mean that who ever would say it with everyone there first would get  ALL the gifts under the tree.  My Mom would always say it but never did she inforce it. lol.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I went into my Mom's closet to get something and I saw all the gifts but I never said anything.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
    Yes

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
My breakable ornimants are on top of the tree.  I try to get the kids that made a ornament or someone who made it for them to put their own speacial ornimants on.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
      LOVE IT…!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12. Can you ice skate?
      Sort of (0;

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
A doll that you would give it water in a toy bottle and she would wet. ( lol)

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
To keep my family focused on Jesus not on the gifts.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
    My Grandma's Christmas fudge

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
cutting down the Christmas tree and decorating it.

17. What tops your tree?

     A Angle

18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving?
Both , one of my 5 love touch points is gifts... giving and receiving.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song?
Silent Night

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yummy?

Yummy !

I hope all of your preperations will be filled with the memories of  what our Savior has done for us. God Bless in this wonderful time .

In Him,

IT sounds like you have a Christmas focused on Christ and family. I can just see you all in the snow, cutting down a tree, munching on fudge! I think I want to come visit!

Hi there!! Sorry I haven't been by in awhile-I kind of went thru a blogging dry spell for a couple weeks, where I blogged once a week. But, I'm catching up in the last few days. I love the background to your blog-it's so pretty!!
That book you mentioned below sounds really good-I will check it out & bookmark it, but can't order it right now. I'll have to wait and use it next year!
I'm looking forward to reading what you do out of the book.
Your candle making sounds so fun!!
