Dec. 21, 2006~ Future Cozy Feet in Felted Slippers and Happy Chanukkah ~
Here is a pic of what I have been VERY busy with.... felted slippers. I hope to have all the cuffs knitted in time. I love knitting and I have even thought of selling these in 2007. I love to knit b/c it is theraphy for me and it stays DONE. I appreciate all who have tried to help me figure out my feathered friends name ... they are Pine Gross birds. I am also DONE with all my CHRISTmas shopping. I hope all who do celebrate the feasts are having fun lighting their minorah and playing with their dradles. If those who are courious how Chanukkah ties in with the Bible it is called the Feast of Dedication. Jesus even celebrated this holiday. It is mentioned in John in the early chapters. ( the exact chapter escapes me at the moment ) The funny thing is we had left over Chanukkah candles from last year and when we went to get more the store didn't have any more. . But a friend suggested we use Birthday candles and it worked. God Bless and I hope to post at least one more time before CHRISTmas.
Boy, those slippers look mighty comfy to me! You've done well!
Thanks for the comment about "to tree or not!" I am going to do a little thinking and a bit more praying about this issue! I see have posted about Chanakkah. I am going to have to research that!!! I've never heard of it!
Merry CHRISTmas to you and your boys and Hubby.
Love
Fiffi and family!
Thanks for stopping by my blog to visit. I have wanted to do the same--visit all my blog friends-- but with the updates and the holidays, I am so very behind!
Anyway, I love these slippers! I have done wool felting--it's so much fun. I also love to knit, but I'll admit that I have far to go to get really good at it. Thanks for sharing these pics--I do think you could sell these. :o)
Those slippers do look warm and cozy! Very nice job.
Do you celebrate both? Or just the Feast of Dedication (I can never spell the other name right. LOL)
DS and I are done with our shopping. All we have to do now is make the Christmas bags. We bought a huge bag of candy and some brown lunch bags. We'll decorate the lunch bags and fill them with candy for our gifts to others. He is really looking forward to making the bags.
And my dad bought a present for DS to give him. LOL, a tool box. But we bought some goodies to hide inside.
AND, my present from my dad came TODAY. I'm so excited. I've needed a new mattress for several years now. The one I was using was older than me, I think. So tonight, I am sleeping on a brand new mattress!! Oh the pure delight and joy.
Hey. sorry i've not been here in a while. i thought i'd just stop by and see how you are doing...i am missing seeing the messages on my blog from you:)well anyways...have a great Christ(mas).

Otherwise known as the Feast of Lights, or Chanukkah or Hanukkah.. is mentioned in the Bible only at John Ch 10:22 where Yeshua (Jesus) is in the Temple. It is also prophecied about in Ezekiel 8.
Chanukkah is much like Purim - taken from the book of Esther, in which the Nation of Isreal is spared by the actions of one person - and a God who protects his children. The Books of Maccabees (Apocryphal writings) tell the story of Judah Maccabee, together with his brothers and supporters, stood against the Syrian Army - a Greek Army - to take back the Temple that had been desecrated, and a pig sacrificed on the altar, idols raised, the Torah burned, the gold stolen off the walls, the oil jars smashed. Chanukkah is a time of remembrance of what God did there - through those few men and women who stood by their beliefs and didn't bow to pressure, did not eat unclean animals, did not forsake the festivals or the study of Torah, and did not forsake circumcising their sons. It is kept for 8 days, because, after restoring the Temple, they were wanting to rededicate it to God by lighting the Menorahs - the 7 branch candelabra - but there was only enough oil for one day - but it takes 7 days to make new oil to burn in the menorah. God provided for that one jar of oil to burn for 8 days until the new oil was ready.
Today we use a 9 branch Chanukiah - menorah to light during the 8 days of remembrance. One candle is called the servant candle, and it is lit first, then used to light all the other candles - depending on what day of the 8 days - and these candles are used purely for looking at - not to be used to cook or to read by - they're just for looking at and remembering.
There's lots of great information about Chanukah at http://biblicalholidays.com/Hanukkah/messiah_in_hanukkah.htm (and other pages on the site).
Keep well with your families, and May the Lord Bless you as you keep your eyes on Him this season.
