Mar. 17, 2007~ 365 Days of Photo's-day 7 " Home Building 101 " ~
We are coming to a end of the BIG building of the " House That God Built". There will be many small projects to be done after we are living in it. Just less than 13 days till the end of house sitting. I have been watching the weather temp.* to see if our temperary water system will flow. It snowed yesterday and once again it is melting today. It is a little hard on the nerves and I feel like a yo-yo sometimes. I guess that is why I posted about not worrying earlier. I have to keep looking to the mountains and KNOW where my strength comes from.
I have loved watching my two oldest ds' get to learn and be involved in how a house is built. I think they are taking extra pride and will have TONS of memories of this last year of building " The House That God Built". We are almost done with the kitchen cupboards. My brother and Handsome( my hubby) will be laying the tiles in the the upper bathroom. ( the blue room) I realized we are referring to each room as their colour. (no I didn't spell colour wrong it is the Canadian way to spell it ) On Wednesday our wood stove shows up. So today we are also washing up the bricks that were apart of the "Old Log Cabin". The Old Log Cabin was the original homestead house on our property. It was built right on the dirt in the Depression. It is sooooooooo neat to be able to take the old and put it into the new house. We are going to use the bricks to put behind the wood stove on the wall. I can't believe how God is leading and inspiring in even the small details. I am just watching Lord giving us what we need as we are following his leadings. I truly believe the Lord is going to use this house somehow for His glory. So here is some pic's of my ds' working on the "House that God Built".

Here is my Big Brother and friend making the custom stairs out of the 100 sq. feet of hard wood flooring that was given us. We didn't have enough to use it in our Master Bedroom but we had plenty to cover the stairs and some other areas I will show you later. This is one of the things that I meant about God leading us in small details. We were struggling in what to do for the stairs and nothing was working till all of a sudden it came to me to use the given flooring for this.
Well that is what is going on in our Homeschool uh... uh... I mean "Life school " this week-end.
Oh Mary, I am getting so excited for you!!!! What an adventure for you and your family! I think it would be so wonderful to build a house from scratch!
Thanks for stopping by for a visit! I'm so sorry that everyone is having trouble viewing my blog. I changed the name when I made a new one, so I'm sure that's the problem. I'm thinking that you'll have to take me off of your friends list and add me again. What a pain! Anyway, I am SO excited for you and your big move! What a neat house you have. When you mentioned the old log cabin--I was pea green with envy! *wink* That is so neat, and I love how the entire family has been a part of things. What wonderful memories. Best wishes to you as you move in. :o)
Since I am somewhat "new" to Homeschool Blogger, I had no idea that your family was building a house! NEAT-O!!! My husband has his own custom woodworking business, so I get to see what everybody else gets to have in their homes.
It makes me very excited for when we have our own home someday (we rent). We are currently living in the NE, US. Homes with land are outragious our here, so we are thinking about moving back to the Midwest, US, when we are able (Lord willing).
I can't wait to see your finished pictures! How exciting!!! And what a blessing!!!
Oooo...hardwoods on the stairs is very nice. We currently have carpet...it would be a ton of money to redo the stairs with nice wood. Maybe one day...until then, it's time to call the carpet cleaner to help us! :-)
I am so glad that we can rely on God's strength and not our own!
That is wonderful, it has been so amazing watching you and your family being lead through this process. I cant beleive it is almost time to move into this blessed new home! What fond memories this Home will hold for you all! Praying that your water system will be flowing and working just fine! :-)
everything is coming along so fast now! it seems like it wasn't that long ago when you started. the cabinets are looking nice. i'm excited for you and your family. the Lord is good indeed!
It is coming along so beautifully. How proud you must be. It is an Honour (hee hee) to see what the Lord is doing in your Life School.
Because of Jesus, Bobbie
That's neat about using the flooring for the stairway! Isn't it fun when you come up with such a great idea that it "floors" you? :-) I know that when such wisdom comes to me that it could only come from God above. And, what a wonderful experience for your sons! This will serve them in their later lives so much better than any grammar or geography lesson. I have really enjoyed your updates! Can't wait until you move in and get to reap the benefits of all your hard work!
~Connie
You know, as you're building everything, and moving day comes, you'll quickly be able to see what is clutter, and unnecessary - what is no longer beautiful, and what doesn't bring you pleasure.. and can discard it, so that only your beautifully created house will stand.
