Jun. 5, 2007~ Lupines ~
When I moved to the Kootenay's I discovered a wonderful flower that grows wild here. It is ...Lupines. They are a flower that blooms in late may early June around here. They come in lots of colours and have a peppery smell. It was funny that I didn't know about the smell till I brought some inside to enjoy and wondered what that smell was and then found out it was the Lupines. It isn't a typical sweet smell you would expect.
Jane this post is for you. When you shared about Tasha Tudor's website and I found the seed there for ...Lupines. It just warmed my heart. For me it is one of the found memories I have of being here where I live. They are such a magical and fairy like look of a flower.
I hope you enjoyed the pic's of what is blooming here right now.
Have a Blessed day my SS'sIC

PS: I made one more correction on the Blue Moon time scheduel and info in the post down below. That way you will know when the next one comes.
Do they grow wild? They are lovely. I am thinking of planting some old fashioned flowers that my grandma loves: snap dragons and gladiolas. Maybe next year...Jeff says I am done planting this year. He's right. I need to change my focus back to the inside and maintaining what I have outside. Great pictures.

Oh Mary, thank you for the dedication! You are so sweet!!! Your Lupines are lovely! Is that top picture from your yard? It looks like it came right out of a magazine! Beautiful. I love the variety of colors you have too - we have a few springing up on our property, but I think they are all the medium to dark purple. I might have to take a look on our land tomorrow and see what I can find - you have made me curious. I have never seen so many in one group like that before. Yours are beautiful! Thanks for showing me. I wish we could just walk together and admire them. (hugs)
Mary, the pictures are beautiful-what a gorgeous place you live in! I had some lupines in my garden, but they didn't come back this year. I think I have a mole problem. I'm going to plant more in a different spot because they are such stunning flowers! Holly
In addition to being window dressing impaired, I am flower impaired. These look a lot like foxglove. I know that one because digitalis, a heart medicine, is extracted from foxgloves. I wonder if they are related?
