Jul. 13, 2007~ Show and Tell Friday ~ Ocean Painting ~
I was given a real treasure last Friday night. Some friends of ours gave us this gorgeous painting to us ! I couldn't believe it. It's a piece of my growing up. Now I have the ocean again. Well sort of .
I grew up near Seattle Wa. for 21 years and then moved near Vancover ,B.C. , Canada the first 7 1/2 years of my marriage. And I LOVED the Pacific Ocean. The sound of the waves is like a lullaby to my soul. I could stare ( and have ) for hours at the waves rolling in. One thing that has helped me not miss the ocean as much is the huge lake we live near. But the waves is what ( is different and) I miss.
I couldn't get over how the colours ( Canadian Sp) matched my decor. I am tickled pink to have it as my show piece in my living room. Now I just need to get the rest of my pic's up.
It is Show and Tell Friday. If you want to join us just....
~Make a Show and Tell Post and make sure it is wholesome. It can be pretty much what ever you want to share. It could be about you ...or your family ....or what is going on in your homeschooling.
~Some how link me ( Canadagirl ) so others will know where to go to join S&T.
~Come back to me and let me know you posted your S&T and I will link you too. ( I need you to tell me each week that you want to participate , okay ? )
I grew up in Kent, WA,lived there for 34 years. . I worked in Seattle for 14 years! Small world. I love that painting. Now I am really curious about where you lived, worked etc, when living in Seattle.
Please add me to the weekly S&T. I am flying to get this out before we leave this morning. I doubt I will have time to visit the other S&Ts before I leave, but I wanted to add mine if I could get it done in time. Which I did!
When I get back, I will post the winner of my cover contest! Bet you can't wait!
It's beautiful! My favorite part of this earth, so far, is Vancouver, CA. I could love ther if my family went with me. I have a Show and Tell but did not know to link to you. I'll try next week.
Blessings to you, Karen
Hi Mary~
What a thoughtful and beautiful gift from your friends! The ocean waves look SO realistic, and stormy. My dh is not a big fan of the ocean, but I, like you, could go often and simply sit on the sand and watch the waves roll in. We do try and make a visit to the coast at least once a year, and in the in- between -times, I listen to "the music of the waves" on my little sound machine on my night stand table.
When you get it hung up, will you please show us again? I bet it will look wonderful. What a lovely gift.
And yes, I did figure out how to get the recent posts on. I just copy and pasted from my son's template. It was pure luck that it worked out! The only thing I'd like to improve it how my blog looks in Internet Explorer. It baffles me why the entries and comments are only two words wide! (insert craved smilie here, lol) Do you think DS14 would know that one?
Nice show & tell, SSiC!

It looks familiar. I think we may have had one that is pretty similar in my house as a child. Did you know that I was born in Oregon and lived there until I was five? I have lots of ocean memories from those years too, and I love the ocean - although I am also awed by it too - and perhaps a little afraid of it.
Here's the link to my S&T. http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/ThreeLittleLadies/356242/
I love this idea and would love to be part of the group. Today I posted about some of the interesting antics that my DS did last year and included a link to the flickr pics. Looking back on it all this morning was such a good laugh and he sat on my lap as I uploaded the pictures asking, "What am I doing in that picture?"
Hi Mary!
What a lovely gift! Thanks for sharing your painting and your memories with us. Please add me if you'd like, and you have my permission to just automatically add me from now on if you wish. Have a great weekened!

I stayed at a hotel (the one my lil sister's family sold and made it so she could have THAT Pool) anyway my room was on the ocean side and when the tide came in you could literally spit in the ocean (it is true I did it)! I slept with the slidingdoor open and just drank in the sunds. My sister later told me some guests ask to have their rooms changed because of the NOISE can you imagine?????
That is a beautiful picture. We were just talking about oceans today and how I miss them. My kids have never seen one. So sometime we will go to Oregon and let them see the pacific ocean.

That is such a pretty picture, i lived in florida for 10 years just 10 minutes away from the beach and i miss it like crazy!!! Withdrawals is not even the word! We dont even have a lake near us :-(
I pray you have a fantastic time at your reunion!! What fun, I can't wait to see your pics :-)
Your picture is gorgeous! I really like the colors. I miss the Washington coast too. I don't miss all the people though. I am getting downright crabby and think there is a traffic jam if I have to wait for more then 5 cars to execute a turn! :o)
What a gorgeous painting! I love the ocean, too, even though I didn't grow up around it. It's funny because my mil gave me a gorgeous painting this week as well! I'll have to take a picture of it and share.
The Open House we are doing is one my hubby has listed. He's a Real Estate Broker. We're hoping to get a lot of lookers, and hopefully, buyers tomorrow! :o)
how beautiful the picture is!!! What a lovely gift from your friends. I love the ocean too - we lived right on the Atlantic Ocean in southern Jersey for almost the first year we were in the US. I LOVED it. And this coming from a girl that grew up right smack in the middle of the Canadian Rockies and the prairies, and still has trouble choosing which is more beautiful - a glacial lake in the mountains or a wheat covered prairie in the sunset. 8~D
