Jul. 31, 2007~ Finished the Stucco on "The House That God Built" ~
Here is the finished stucco finish. Hardy Plank will be some time in the Fall.
I was asked a couple questions about the stucco on the House That God Built.
~Will you paint it when it is done?~
Well Hubby is happy with the colour tint that was put in the stucco. I have to admit I am thinking I do want to paint on top of it. I will wait till after we get the siding on the top half before we decide what to do. If we do it will probably be me painting.
~Wow, you have been busy. The house is looking good. Is there a reason why you stuccoed and not just put up siding or something? Just wondering. :) ~
We decided to go with stucco on the bottom half of the house and Hardy Plank (cement board that looks like wood siding) on the top b/c of us being sooooooo close to the woods ( we got a good deal from our friend the contractor ) and there are a lot of forest fires around here. There is one that is very large and not that far from here. Today we have smoke outside and I am trying to keep the windows closed as much as we can.
Yikes on the forest fires! All the homes here are stucco-ed. It's very interesting to watch the whole process of the house being built. Your cement siding is a good choice, vinyl siding is carcinogenic if it's burning...
Nice job, the house looks almost done! In Florida, they paint their stucco a pastel pink, or coral, or yellow, or green. I suppose we won't find that on your house full of men. :) I saw a stucco house in a magazine once that was painted a pretty beige & then she painted a grapevine & flowers all around the door - you are artistic, how about a murual - consider the whole house your canvas. (just a thought) lol
Wow! The guys did a great job. I'm just amazed at the work they did on it. How long did it take? So color, what wonderful color is going through your head to paint it? Have fun with you new project, that's something I don't mind doing is painting.
Oh goodness, not forest fires! I am glad you are using durable materials. It looks really good. Does the stucco add extra insulation, too? Sorry for another question!
Your SSiC,
Jenn
Yes. Stucco does add a bit of insulation to the house. I am really hoping that with all that we did that we won't have to chop that much wood to keep the house cozy and warm. (0; We have to think about when we old and grey, eh ?
