Aug. 4, 2007~ It's smokey in paradise ! ~
Fire Update:
There are 3 major fires near us. One is about 10 miles away and it is 80% contained. Then there is two that are about 30 or so miles on each side of us and they are not contained. One they had to evacuate people from their homes.
The air is okay. It varies from hour to hour. Some times more smoky than other times. My Hubby is fairing pretty good.
I was asked what State I live in...I live in the Province of British Columbia, Canada. We are above Washington State and Idaho State.
Yes we appreciate any prayers for rain.... Thank you.
We have really been paying attention to the local news lately. This is the time of year that there are a lot of forest fires. Because we live in a area that has lots of forest and then with that... comes the summer time fires. Here is what it looked like early this morning.
Usually you see our mountains here
and here

We can't open our windows b/c it is too smoky. My hubby is taking his herbal tinctures to help with his asthma. It is hard on him right now. There is suppose to be rain coming and I pray that it does. We really would love for the air to clean up. Last night there was ash falling from the sky.
To end on a lighter note here is a fun quiz
What Your Latte Says About You
You are interested in only pure and simple pleasures. You don't like to pollute your body or mind.
You can be quite silly at times, but you know when to buckle down and be serious.
Intense and energetic, you aren't completely happy unless you are bouncing off the walls.
You're addicted to caffeine. There's no denying it.
You are responsible, mature, and truly an adult. You're occasionally playful, but you find it hard to be carefree.
You are deep and thoughtful, but you are never withdrawn.
Oh, SSiC! I will pray for lots of rain. Our air quality is bad right now because of the humidity. I have stayed indoors more lately. My allergies are out of control.
Jenn
I know you have to worry about the fires, but all I have to say is: "Wow, what beautiful pictures. I hope it does rain for your DH's sake.
I took the quiz and was very similar to yours, one thing they said it was different is that I am not addicted to caffeine LOL,. If I don't drink my coffee I get the shakes and a terrible headache. I was born drinking Brazilian coffee instead of milk LOL :)
Have a wonderful blessed day.

What state do you live in? We are in CA and we're just waiting for our mountains to go up in flames... we're so dry. We live at the base of some mountains and we worry a lot about the season approaching (september). My youngest has asthma and smoke just doesn't go well with him. Well, keep clean and pure...
You're singing my song, gal! Oh, I do feel for you about not being able to go outside and the ash falling from the sky! Rain? You said rain? For your sake I say, "OK" but I cringe at the thought of rain in August. What is the % containment on this fire? One good gully-washer changed the containment from 15% to 95% in ONE NIGHT when we were at our place. So I hope you get a gully-washer. Are you on the west side or the east side of the mountains in BC?
We don't really get the forest fires around us like that. Suzie said she has the problem up around her too. I hope that the air clears soon and that they don't get too close!
I pray that all will be well with you. No matter where we lives we can't seem to escape the effects of the fall and the curse, can we? My God keep you safe under His wings my friend.
We have the same problem too, though thankfully nothing so close that we have ash. But there is a fire up the mountains from us, and we keep getting engulfed in their smoke, which we do smell sometimes. I'm sorry you're husband is having such a hard time. We can't close our windows, it's to warm and we have no air conditioner, just a swamp cooler. But like I said, it hasn't been real bad. I pray you do have rain coming. :)
JoAnn
I hope that there is rain coming to you. Father, please send rain to put out the fires in my homeschool sister's area. In Jesus name. Those mountains sure are pretty when you can see them. Hopefully, that will be soon.
Seems like we are doing the same thing again. It really is smokey in Paradise (CAL) tonight. We have a 70 acre fire close to about a half dozen homes. They can use your prayers. We are safe about 15 mile north. and across the reservoir.
Thanks for praying.
Because of Jesus, Bobbie
