Aug. 16, 2007~ The Mom Walk ~ Book Review ~
I find it amazing how the Lord is moving and placing things in our lives even when we don't realize it. I really try to follow the Lord in the way he wants me to go. ( but I make mistakes too) When I did the educational tag and shared my favorite verse (Jeremiah 6:16) I didn't realize how it would be a verse for the coming school year.
I had shared a verse that I had just recently found. I had never seen it before and found it so profound. Then when my friend Bubbebobbie said I should cross stitch it and hang it by my front door for my boys to see as they go out the door. I just LOVED that idea !
When I make my curriculum order each year I always try to get some books for Mama. We really need to feed ourselves so that we can give to our children in this homeschooling journey. I first and formost encourage to read the Bible everyday. I have also found some authors who I felt has mentored me in the times I didn't have a mentor. ( now through HSB I have some mentors that I cherish very much) One author I really like is Sally Clarkson. She with her husband wrote "Educating the Whole Hearted Child" and sence then she has wrote several books. I just bought " The Mom Walk".
Yesterday when I took my boys to the beach to swim. I took my book along. I love reading on the beach and listening to the waves and my children play. I started to read the first chapter and I couldn't believe my eyes ! There on the first page was my verse !!! Jeremiah 6:16. I started to cry. (for real) You know those kind of tears of just letting out emotions. It was a conformation to me. I really believe the Lord will give us verses each year or periods of time( or for our life time) in our lives. A verse we can repeat to our selves and hang onto.( Holding onto the promises)
I am REALLY looking forward to reading the rest of the book now. Thanks for reading to the ramblings of a homeschool mama.
I enjoyed this post very much. I read that verse at the top of your page before I read the entry and was already thinking what a great verse it was. I may cross stitch it too!
Oh Mary, that just touched me so much. Hearing your verse & seeing it in the book. What a wonderful approach for the school year. Doing the cross stitch for each of the kids room, is a most awesome ideal. I haven't cross stitched in years, I wonder if I still remember how to... 'lol'
Thanks for the uplifted & spiritual posting,
Debbie
Sally donated this book to our open House and I have to admit I snuck off with the book a few times and read the whole thing!!! I loved it, i love all of her books! I am going to do a post on the book next week too!
When I got my mail and opened my package, I just about fell over!!!! Mary seeing pictures of your beautiful pieces does it no justice at all!!!!! I am so very thankful, I felt your love and care come through the necklace in ways I cant describe!!! Am I aloud to blog about my "gift" ??? Bartering is such fun! I will get your notebook together asap!
God is so personal in how He shows His love for us!
I really like Sally Clarkson too. I've read the Ministry of Motherhood by her and this one looks good too! BTW, I like your guestbook.
That was such a blessing to read! I have my show & tell up, so please include me when you're ready. :o)
Oh, and one of these days I WILL share my picture. Because I don't have one posted, my friend Keri has a (very funny) husband who's concerned that I'm really a middle aged man named Frank, LOL!
I really like Sally Clarkson and have several of her books but I don't know about this one. Do you get here email letters? She also has a blog which is worth reading. Trouble is eventually you don't have time to read any more blogs.
