Aug. 17, 2007~ Show and Tell Friday ~ Projects on the go at The House That God Built" ~
As you can see we have been busy. Our friend Mr. B has been helping us build a woodshed. My 2ds12 has been helping and learning so much. I love how they took poles from our woods and made them into a pioneer'ish building.
I didn't show it but Handsome has been chopping and gathering wood from the woods. Mr. B has been out there with the chainsaw and then we split and will get the boys to gather the wood. Oh I am looking forward to using our wood stove.
Mr. B has had a lot of fun being creative for us. He with my boys and hubby have been gathering rocks and see what they did ! I now have steps to the back of my house. They are going to be doing the same sort of idea for my front steps of the house. A smidgen different but very similar. I can't wait to see what they will look like.
I really stand back in amazement. Mr. B would never say he was sent to bless us from the Lord. But I believe God did send Mr. B to help us in the making of " The House That God Built". This "House That God Built" is still in progress and I can't wait to see what God will do next ! It is not by our power that this is being done but by the Lord. PTL
Thank you Mr. B for all you do and thank you Lord for blessing us beyond our dreams.
Mr. Linky is hopefully going to help me by next week. I am having a friend help me figure it out.

Ohhh Mary, I love that saying. So true, so cool. WOW, you guys are doing amazing things with your home. I love how much you are involving "nature" in your design.
Blessings to you,
Julianne @ www.familyblueprint.blogspot.com
I hope I'm not too late to post this... living on the west coast sometimes put me behind in time zones. Here is my S & T post:

Hello again! I wasn't going to S&T today since dh took off with the camera but remembered a project he did with the boys a couple of weeks ago so I decided to share that for today:
Thanks for your quick reply. I did see that post that explained s&t, but...Do I just post something and then tell you I posted it? Is it that simple? Do I post it on Friday? Or can I do it the day before?
Thank you for inviting my questions about your schedule. I've been hs a long time, yet, I am not an expert at it (you would think that I would be by now).
First of all, I see that you have a very simple school schedule.I am not looking at it right now, but from memory, it said something like, a block of time for history/science(alternating days), Bible, a lunch break, and then afternoon you have a block of time for math and then their own interests and "life skills".
That is a big block for history/science. Where do you teach something like spelling? Do you incorporate it into something else? I have had a hard time teaching this subject. I have used spelling curriculums a lot, but I still have a few that spell horrible. It frustrates me.
Also, what would life skills be all about?
Thank you
Antoinette
We are doing Literary Lesssons from Lord of the Rings this year and I would so feel like I was living in the Shire every time I went up or down those really cool steps!
How exciting! I love the look. Can anyone go into the woods and harvest the trees or do you have to own the section you use?
Here is my S & T post today:

I just wanted to say that though I like the nickname "Frank" I thought I had better just post a picture of myself, LOL. It's a "friends only" post, so come over and meet me! :o)
Oh, now that's just strange. I can see it, but you can't? I set it to friends. Let me change that to "registered and see if that helps. :o)
(It's here at HSB.)
I posted my S&T Friday. For some reason I can't see some of your pictures. I can see the Show & Tell ones but the ones below, explaining the show & tell is what I can't see.
I love those steps. I also enjoy reading Sally Clarkson. I am reading her book The Ministry of Motherhood right now. I also loved Educating the Whole Hearted Child. I will have to look for this one.

Neat start to the wood shed, can't wait to see the finished product! And I Love, Love, Love those steps. They look like something right out of House Beautiful magazine. Very fun S&T. I'm sorry, but I won't get a S&T up this week, I'm soooo behind. But I hope to next Friday - I know what I what to show, I just need to get it camara ready.
Mary, I just wanted to say "hello" -- saw your comment on PlainJane's blog... I see your name everywhere (everybody loves Canadagirl!), but we have never met. We lived in Alberta for a year and I loved it...beautiful country. Well, all country is beautiful to this citified girl :o) I enjoy seeing your blog from time to time.
Sally
I have only used tomatoes in the bean soup, but I could easily see it replaced with zucchini pure or pumpkin pure or any other thing like that.
lentils were so easy. 1 cup lentils 5 cups water.. set to boil for 30 minutes. Meanwhile.. saute 2 large onions and put them in the lentils when nice and golden brown.. add 1/2 cup rice and 1 teaspoon cumin.. salt and pepper... to the lentil pot.. and simmer until you've simmered away most of the water. Voila - Lentil Pottage.
The book is about $19 at amazon.ca or $13 in the US. I'm considering it. There are no pictures in the book - I like pictures.. but I like how it's layed out.. Basics.. then appetizers.. then soups.. then entres.
Wow is a good word to describe your house! Thanks for coming to visit me last week and wish me a happy birthday! It was :) Have a great Sunday,
Elizabeth
Well, I messed up your slideshow! I had signed up and couldn't find myself, so I signed in again... and now I see I am on there twice and once it says I live in England? Hmmm... I couldn't figure out how I could edit or delete something I messed up.
But when I was on the slide.com website, I learned that you can delete me from my England location.
* Go to My Slide page, and play the Guestbook. Delete entries you don't want.
Everything is looking amazing. I love the stone walkway. We can relate to the cutting and chopping wood. We heat with wood too! I love the warmth of the wood stove. I don't think I could ever handle going back to using the propane furnace.
