Aug. 21, 2007~ Tightwad Tuesday ~ Cinnamon Coffee ~
Today I have writers block. So, I am sorry if you came for anything amazing or profound. Ohhhhh , I just thought of something I can share. It is Tuesday, so I can post a Tightwad Tuesday idea. I KNOW this is a homeschool blog but... with homeschooling comes a homeshool Mama. Even her needing a good treat ideas is a "good thing". ( as Martha Stewart would say)
I have been known for being a coffee snob. Which is NOT a tightwadish thing to do. I get stomach aches if I drink anything that isn't good quality roasted coffee. I also really like the taste of a cup of good DARK roasted cup of java.
One trick I have learned if you want a fancy coffee treat that isn't expensive to do is take the coffee you do have add a smidgin of ground cinnamon to the grounds, drip your coffee the usual way, and Wa La !!! You have cinnamon coffee. I have seen some coffee's out there that you pay to have the flavor. This way you don't have to buy a special coffee to have a special flavor.
I also thought I would slip in a fun quiz I took.
You Are Running on 44% Adrenaline
Your Adrenaline Level: High
You often feel like you are running on empty. And it doesn't feel great!
Slow it down a little - even if it means not getting everything done.
I will try adding cinnamin to coffee for flavor treat!
I am hooked on McDonald's $1.83 hazelnut iced coffee right now, it's cheaper than Starbucks and is a tasty treat.
Blessings, Mama Karen
I usually don't make coffee in the summer, but end up buying iced coffees or waiting for my sweet mom to treat me! This is a good idea. I need to ask for a coffee maker for my birthday. Mine is old and cheap and not so hot. You are right, we need a treat once in awhile especially when we're running on empty! Good job..

Nothing to say, Mary? Not at all. This is a great blog entry... thanks for sharing. I am a coffee fanatic!!! I think I would disappear into nothingland if I didn't get my coffee on a regular basis.
That sounds good with the cinnamon in the coffee. I have heard the same thing with vanilla too. Add some vanilla to the coffee grounds before brewing. I haven't tried it yet, but both sound very yummy. :)

Yummy treat. Thanks for sharing! I just saw this quiz at Mama Karen's blog. I told her that I wasn't running on adrenaline, but on coffee. Then I come over here to find you have posted a coffee treat with this quiz. Too funny!
My adrenaline % is higher than yours--46%. What is with THAT? Am I scrambling to find curriculum this year? Am I determined to start school on time? No! I should be free and easy! For the first time in 20 years I didn't even BUY curriculum this year. My youngest is doing Running Start. So...why I am I running on anything at all?
I think the real reason is because I'm NOT homeschooling this year. That pins me down and keeps my commitments at an all-time low. Now I think I'm filling up my schedule, doing all those things I never could do before.
What's a mother to do? I'm...busted!
Okay, this is one thing we don't have in common - but different is good - you can have my cup. I'm just not a coffee drinker. I don't own a coffee maker, and I couldn't make a good cup of coffee right now if my life depended on it. I like the aroma of coffee, but have just never aquired a taste for it. If I want to treat myself, then I go for the hot chocolate. Good tip though and today I need all the adrenaline I can get. Friday (tomorrow) I will have a house full of 6 moms & 12 girls here for a Rubies planning meeting and the house is a disaster! I won't be on the computer much today, but will try to catch up with you tomorrow afternoon. Have a Blessed day my SSiC! I miss not talking with you all the time.
Sorry it has been sooo long since I have visited (actually commented)!!! This summer has been a busy one for me!!!
Our baby girl arrived on August 7, a whole month early!!! And as far as trying to get school going during the summer...it just didn't happen!!!
And on the coffee note...
I love this coffee post! And as bad as coffee is for me (raises my blood pressure), I love it!!! When I want some expensive tasting coffee, I add vanilla ice cream to mine!!! It is creamy and delicious! Other things I have added is vanilla extract, whipped topping, chocolate, and caramel syrup!!! YUM!!!
My coffee time is in the morning, and I cherish that time! Coffee and my Bible!
Mary, I used to make this coffee for my husband in this manner about 7 years ago. I learned the hard way (two times) not to put too much cinnamon in the drip coffee maker. If you do, it overflows out the top of the grounds holder and you have a MESS!
As for Writer's block...yikes...I have been so busy redesigning the Family Blueprint website, my blog got put on hold (though I did add a new header). The familyblueprint.org site was due for a major overhaul. If you get a chance, check out the new look on my children's/family ministry site: www.familyblueprint.org
Blessings to you sis,
Julianne of www.familyblueprint.blogspot.com
Anytime you discover ways to brew yummy coffee "treats" at home, do pass them on. I thoroughly enjoy a good cup of Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha. But I don't get it too often. One, it's kind of pricey. Two, the closest Starbucks I know about is about an hour from where I live! I enjoy buying the flavored creamers and adding whipped cream! Some of those creamers make for pretty yummy coffee and it's a whole lot cheaper!
Thanks for sharing!
