Sep. 18, 2007~ Tightwad Tuesday~Chai Tea ~
Tightwad Tuesday
I love being a SAHM ( Stay at Home Mom) but to do that you have to find creative ways to make a one income work. I hope that on Tuesday's I can pass what I have learned for the last 17 years of making a one income work. I am open to your insights too. God Bless
For those who like Chai Tea this is for YOU !
I love warm flavorful drinks in the cooler weather. But because I get gourmet coffee I can't afford to drink it all through the day AND it's not good for me.
So when I want something yummy I make Chai Tea. To make it easy and economical I use ....
1 Stash Chai tea bag
1 Redrose tea ( or any Orange Pekoe tea you have) bag
Boiling hot water
Pour boiling hot water over tea bags in a tea pot and wait 3-5 minutes. And Wa La !!! it is ready to add milk and sweetner if you want.
To make it even more economical you can reheat the tea as you need through the day and that REALLY helps you save money.
Enjoy !
I'll have to look for the redrose tea bags. Our grocery stores in Mississippi didn't carry them, but I'd bet they have them here.
Thanks for the tip. I'm a tea drinker too. It became a habit from our years in England. My DH still likes a "toast and tea break" in the morning.
She makes Chai from Scratch! When she was bemoaning not being on the Mission field, God sent her three guys from India in the 10/40 window that never had the gospel in their villages. They worked with her DH and would come to dinner. They led them to the Lord and in turn taught Heatherlee to be an awesome Indian cook! And Homemade Chai is amazing!
Hello!Thanks for the sweet comment!
Of course we'll pray for you!
Sorry this is short but I have to get off of here because my time's up,and I have to Babysit the Baby too.
That is what I drink when I'm on a break from coffee. Mmmm... It is also good if you make it super strong and sweeten it while it is still hot. Then cool it in the fridge. Whenever you want a COLD Chai Latte, just add some of the concentrated tea and some milk in a glass. You can even serve over ice-- yummo!
I will try that- I love Chai Tea. It's probably too cold there most of the year but my dear friend likes to blend her chai tea with ice and make a shake out of it.
Also, I want to Thank you for the post on created for work. I bought both books to do with my son but even better my dh is doing it. I would never ask or suggest him to but when he saw them sitting on the counter we got to talking and ---wallah. :-)
I can't tell you how many times I re-heat my coffee throughout the day. Actually, I went to heat up some corn in the microwave the other night for dinner, and what do you know....there was my 2nd cup of coffee that I never drank. LOL.
Hi Mary. Taking a vow of poverty seems to come with being a SAHM! It has taken me 9 years to embrace this thought. It is so worth the sacrifice. (I remind myself over and over.)
Jenn
Thanks for sharing your tips. We just found out we need a brand new roof in the next few weeks. Yikes! I think I am pretty good at stretching our one income but there is always room for improvement.
Blessings,

Pretty new dress you're wearing this season Mary..
I've been thinking about changing my blog, just not that many hours in a day.
Do you not have the Chai Tea Masala in your grocery store? It's a combination of the spices that goes in chai. I just use a black tea tea bag and add in a teaspoon of the masala.. and equal parts of milk and water and let it simmer on the stove. The only thing I don't like about my way is that sometimes it gets that film of milk gunk on the top, but I just pull it out and pour... and then sweeten.
