Flu update:
I have all six of us
sick.
It's that time again...
I want to share what we have been enjoying for the last few Months (espeacially sense we have been sick with the flu this week) books on CD or MP3. (click on pic to take you to their web page sites)
We own Volume 1 and 4 of Your Story Hour CD's. The earlier volumes have Bible stories and they also have famous people who had a faith in our Lord and did great things for Him.
Then for Christmas I got the boys 3 G.A. Henty books aka as the "Boy's Historian" on CD or MPS. Now these books or CD's are not just for boys. They were writen in the 1800's and are high quality historical novels. The titles we have so far are...
"The Cat of Bubastes" read by ...Jim Weiss
"For The Temple" read by... Jim Weiss
"The Young Carthaginian" read by... Jim Weiss
You can also get unabridged read by ...Jim Hodges
My boys and I have really injoy these and highly recommend them. So much that my 7 year old keeps listening to The Story Hour over and over and over again.
It may take a few days to comment. I am feeling like I am really coming down with the flu. I have really tried NOT to come down with it.
Blessings my SS'sIC

Woohoo - first in this week! I have been trying hard to work out the best time to link with you, as my Friday is usually done by the time your post comes up.
Hope that you and the family are all feeling much better now.
I really want to start to listen to audio books, and we are trying to start slowly. I think we have one or two. Little ones, nothing big, but its a start. And they are classics or anything, but Paulie likes listening to them. Thanks for the encouragement. :)
JoAnn
Those sound really great :) I think we are going to have to check them out. K has tons of the Odyssey cd's and listens to them over and over so I know he would love some new listening materials *grin*
Blessings,
Rosina
Thank you for sharing how much you enjoy the recorded Henty stories. We haven't tried them yet but have listened to others which we liked. They are nice on long road trips too. I'm sorry you are having a flu bug go through the house. Rest and get better soon.
The audio books look great! Thanks for sharing. I have been debating about getting my husband a Henty, I think he would like it. But oh no Mary, not you too with the flu. Well, I'm not surprised with you being nurse all week - I would have been surprised if you hadn't come down with it. Take real good care dear - mom's aren't suppose to get sick ya know.
Oh ps - Thanks for linking me on - you are sooooo thoughtful!
I got to here Jim Weiss this fall when he came to Atlanta for the Craddle of Civilization, He is a wonderful story teller. Have a blessed weekend and I pray everyone is feeling better.
I love those audio book read by Jim Wiess especially the Shakespeare for kids. It is so funny. My son really enjoyed it too. Praying that you will all be well soon.
Pam
I love books on tape! Listen to them in the car while drivng from bakery to home and back. I will check these out at our library. I hope you don't get sick! Get some rest and drink hot tea.(-:

I had an acidy stomach yesterday... and woke up with a sore throat... I hope I am not getting it too. It is kind of hard to deny at this point. But, for right now I am feeling about 80% fine ~ I am going to live in fantasy land a little longer. And, I am going to like it here!
I really hope you are not coming down with the flew. I hope you feel better soon.
I have thought about getting some books on tape, but just haven't done it yet. With all the traveling we do I really should. Thank you for showing us your audio books.
I hope you are feeling better. Have you ever taken oil of oregano? We swear by it here. Seems to cut right through whatever you have. Also TheraFlu is my over-the-counter drug of choice for just about everything that makes you feel puny!
We love books on cd also. We have all the Chronicles of Narnia from Focus on the Family. Their radio theater is the best! I will have to look into getting the GA Henty ones. I really enjoy the ones we have by Jim Weiss. Stay low and get lots of rest- says Dr. Lori! ((hugs))
I'm so sorry you are sick now, too. Bless your heart.
We love the Your Story Hour CDs! We have the biographies and they are great. I want to get some Henty CDs someday. "Cale" really likes to read Cat of Bubastes.
We enjoy the Your Story Hour CD's too! :)
Alek & I read the Cat of Bubastes this year. It was great!
Take care & I hope you all feel better soon!
Love, Alyssa
I'm so sorry you're all sick! How awful. Ugh.
Thanks for the ideas. I love the audio books, as I have to read so much to Josiah. He's not reading well yet, but he's a good listener!
(We get the flu shot every fall, doctor recommended as we have so much asthma in the family, which can lead to pneumonia. So far, so good. We seem to avoid most all of it.)
Sounds like some great things to have when your sick! I hope you get better soon though! But now's the time to be sick over here, it's sooooooo cold! But I suppose it's not that bad compared to over where you are.
I did a S&T finally! Come visit!
Oh no! Mary! My SEiC, don't get sick! (((hugs))) Wait, I shouldn't hug you... I'll get cyber germs and then I'll get sick, too! I hate the flu. Get lots of sleep and know that you probably have a bazillion people praying for your recovery. :-)
Mary,
I'm so sorry to hear that you are all sick. I said a prayer for you all. Friday was a long day for us. It started with calling to reschedule my prenatal appointment which they had me go ahead and come in. Then they sent me to the hospital from the doctor's office for some extended monitoring. All is fine and I'm back home. I'll be doing an update post hopefully today sometime (Saturday).
Take care,
Karen

Aww... All of you are sick now? Well, at least no one will feel left out! :-/ I admire how much you all share with each other. *giggles and clamps hand over mouth* Sorry, I should be serious, shouldn't I? But laughter is the best medicine! I guess it only is when you are the one laughing, not me. *sigh* Should I take a video of myself dressed up as a court jester and do some juggling tricks? That might make you laugh. Or maybe I could.. I could... Hmm... I can't think of other funny things at the moment. I could try singing! No, that might do more harm than good. Probably break your computer's speakers...
Just get better soon! Please? ((Mary)) ((Mary's family))

I love those books - The Young Carthiginian and The Cat of Bubastes (especially this one). I read those to my kids from the G.A. Henty book and they hung on to every word. There is this HUGE vocabulary in the originals, but they seemd to grasp it all anyways.
Great show and tell - thanks for telling us about the audio versions of these. I hope you feel better, quickly. But meanwhile, get a lot of rest, enjoy your kids (from the couch or bed) and drink some hot tea. Lots of R & R and family time!
