It's that time again...
Pssssssssst...I am answering questions on the bottom ofthe post if you are curious. So keep checking or even ask me a question.
Here is our Curling (click on the word Curling if you don't know what it is ) Team for the B.C. Winter Games !!!
( From left to right...
Philip ( my 1ds) , Chris, Andrew, Luke( my 2ds),Reese, Alex, And our GREAT coach ...Mr. Laurie)
Yes, I AM a very PROUD mama. We are eating ,sleeping, and breathing Curling till the week end of the 21st-24th. I am very happy to say that we pretty much raised all (if not all...I will have a update very soon) the money we needed to to pay for their uniforms !!!
I was asked about the shoes they wear.
"I looked up your link and see that it is kind of like iceskating (it's on ice) but it's kind of like bowling. Do they wear skates? "
answer....
...No they don't wear ice skates. But it is kinda close. They wear shoes that have a smooth sole ...the slider shoe. And then they have a shoe that has a bumpy rubber sole...the gripper. They push with the gripper foot and slide with the slider foot. They have a lot of fun scooting around . lol
...Here is a gripper. They or built onto or you can buy some that slips onto the bottom of the shoe.
If you don't want to listen to the music just turn down your speaker. This is just the best short video I could find. Have fun !
I was asked... Are any other team mates home schoolers?
answer...Yes !!!! Out of the 6 team mates there are....4 Homeschoolers. My two plus Andrew and Reese. Isn't that cool !!!!

I learned something new today! I never knew what curling was. In fact, I never even heard of it until you started mentioning this word in your posts. I looked up your link and see that it is kind of like iceskating (it's on ice) but it's kind of like bowling. Do they wear skates?

What a handsome group! Very nice uniforms. I am thankful to know that you raised the money you needed. What a blessing. I am working on my post...
(((hugs)))

I like to learn something new everyday, and today I learned what curling is. That's a nice pic. of the team. You've got some nice looking young men in your family. I'll try and send you a link to an entry I did for my ann. In this entry I show pictures and tell of each of my children and their names. This way you can see who's, who.
Talk later,
Josephine
P.S. I absolutely loved the pictures of the snow.
Well, that's cool! They are a handsome bunch, but it looks like they are holding floor mops--not the raggedy kind, but those square blue kind that you mop the floor with. OK, so I see the tools, and I see the shoes, but what are they shoving round with the tools? Not a ball. Not a...well, I know the word "puck" from hockey. Are they pushing around a puck? I know, I know, I could have gone to the link, but it IS late.
Heavy, granite STONES? AUGH! How big? There were no pictures!
I enjoyed your entry and how nice to have more than one kid in the same sport! Ah, the joy!
Such handsome boys! When I worked at Wendy's (in high school) the boys used to curl with the garbage cans on wheels after closing. Can you tell I'm from the PacNW? I can remember watching it on the olympics that year too!
Cool pics Mary (no pun intended!). I didn't realise that they had different soles on their shoes - that explains alot!
Make sure that your boys have a look at the pics on my site this week - think they'll enjoy them!
You've got 14 comments already (including mine) and it isn't even Friday yet!
Here's my idea. Someone needs to make a graphic that we can post on our blogs that shows our support of your boys' BC team. I'd love to show my support in that way.
Congratulations to the team for their great work. Curling looks like a lot of fun. I'm sure the boys do have a great time sliding around on the ice. I didn't know the rock weighed so much.
I thought I would join you this week for S&T Friday.I am enjoying your blog! My oldest son and I liked the info on curling as that was a sport we really enjoyed watching in the Olympics. Thanks for hosting! -- Amy
Hello Canadagirl! I've been to your blog before, but never commented - I seem to do that a lot.
Curling is interesting, I don't believe I've ever heard of it before. :)
Great s&t! We love curling to. K would love to be closer to the rink so that he could do it more often but we only get to do it once in a while :) That's really great news about the fundraising to. Way to go!
Have a wonderful day,
Rosina
Wow Mary, I'm #31. One would think this S&T might catch on. lol Neat pictures! I don't get video's too well - slow computer, but fun to see. I didn't realize there were special curling shoes, but I guess that would make sense. Thanks for sharing - Proud Mama!
I have seen this sport on TV before but I never have met anyone who plays it. The team looks like they really enjoy it.
Thanks for doing Show and Tell, this will be fun.

Hi!
Good post, we have a curling club in our town, but you might already know that. How long has sons been part of curling, how many days a week do they practice?
I didn't do a S&T this week, but I did leave a link to you and my mom.
Thank you for your thorough answer to my question! An ammendment to your post including pictures!
I really enjoy these show-and-tells - thank you for hosting them, Mary. It is amazing at what I learn each week through the different s&t's - like yours this week - you've educated me on a sport I've never heard of before. I'm thinking this is just Canadian?
Antoinette
Hope the team does GREAT at the games!!! Good job of educating everyone about curling too - I miss it now that we're too far south to find any interest in it.
Sorry I was so late getting my own S&T up, I was busy on Friday with my oldest having surgery, so that's what I shared about for S&T.
