~ Show and Tell Friday~The Seattle Boat Lockes ~

Pssst...I just realised next Friday is my 39th birthday. ( I love birthdays )  I am open to ideas for a themed Show and Tell.  Please leave your ideas in the comment box.

Its that time again...

One of our family favorite field trips/tourist attractions we like to go visit is to go to the Seattle Boat Lockes.  So we all headed out on this wonderful sunny day.

I was asked...
I'm thinking those are lockes to get the boats to water that is at a different level? If so, it's probably similar to what we have between Lakes Superior and Huron, where the boat goes forward into a compartment, and the water is either raised or lowered to the next level.

Answer...Yes this is just like that.

Here is Nicolas watching the boats fill up.

from left to right....Noah, Me, My sister, my mom, and Philip.

Everything was soooooo full from the Spring run off.   When we walked across the bridge it felt like it was raining but it was the mist from the water.

Here is Noah looking at the different stages of a fish first 99 days of life.

We got to see the Chinook Trout (sp?) in the fish ladder.

Here is Handsome, Nicolas , and Noah watching the boats.

from left to right...Philip, cousin Ben, and Luke.

Here is my BIL and Sister too.

After all this fun we went and got fish and chips for lunch.  What a perfect day.  The only sad thing was I wished we had more than two days to hang out together.  But it was GOOD to be together.

Now....

*** Remember in Show and Tell Friday ...the best way to get a comment is to give a comment. ***

Oh, it is so good to have time to catch up with you tonight!

I love seeing all the pics of your family. They are great! The Lockes look very interesting, indeed. That building you showed on Wed. was great, very artistic.

And, oh, the wonderful books you were blessed to bring home!!!!!! Fabulous.

It looks/sounds like you had a wonderful trip. I"m glad you're back home, though. You were missed.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi!
What nice pictures. Looks like a wonderful day....
I'm thinking those are lockes to get the boats to water that is at a different level? If so, it's probably similar to what we have between Lakes Superior and Huron, where the boat goes forward into a compartment, and the water is either raised or lowered to the next level. 'Cept we don't have those wonderful salmon...being fresh water. Those underwater windows are pretty cool.

That's great! I've always wondered about the locks, and whether they would hold the kids' interest. It certainly looks like they did. Thanks for sharing.

I use to go there growing up! Awe memories! And Fish and Chips! When we moved east we could not find any Fish and Chips as they simply do not sell them here. They sell fried fish and soggy fries! Nothing beats NW fish and chips. I actually shared a craft today.
Your book bounty looks fabulous! I can just smell the new book smell! My kids were peaking at it over my shoulder and wanted to know why you had to have all those books for Canada History! I guess when I said you lived in Canada they did not connect that you do indeed study the history of your country. Blessings

that's a great field trip. we used to go see the boats go through the locks on the TN river. Since 9-11, they don't let us near the dams any more.

And brought back some memories!! I was really fascinated by the salmon ladders we saw the last time we visited the west coast (lots of years ago now). We drive past the locks at Niagara every time we go to Ontario, as we are doing tomorrow.

I won't get back home until the 6th, so I will wish you a Happy Birthday now! ;~)

Blessings,
Kym
