Nov. 10, 2008~ Tightwad Tuesday~ Sleeping Easily With A Cold ~
It is that time of year when the colds seem to be moving around more. I have a tip that I was just reminded of when one of my boys ( Noah , 3ds10) had a hard time sleeping the other night. He was all stuffed up and was having a hard time breathing. I got out the trusty old vapor rub and was putting it on his chest and back. My 2ds14 pipped up for me to rub it on the bottom of his feet and then put socks on. Yes, I said his feet. When you rub it on their feet it helps stop the coughs and stuffiness disappear like you wouldn't believe. This trick can save you a lot of money so you don't have to buy those expensive cough medicines. I personally don't even like them. We treat our colds with vitamin C, lots of liquids, vapor rub and we also give our boys tinctures that my MIL makes. Well, I hope this tip helps you save a bit in the cold season.

"If mothers could learn to do for themselves what they do for their children when these are overdone, we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play!
If she would have the courage to let everything go when life becomes too tense, and just take a day, or half a day, out in the fields, or with a favourite book, or in
a picture gallery looking long and well at just two or three pictures, or in bed, without the children, life would go on far more happily for both children and parents.
The mother would then be able to hold herself in "wise passiveness’ and would not fret her children by continual interference even of hand or eye - she would let them
be." ...Charlotte Mason
I've heard about the Vick's on the feet thing, but when I researched it, it seemed like it was just one of those rumors that gets circulated online. It's nice to hear that someone has actually tried it. I'll have to keep that in mind.
Great tip! I love the stuff. I have been drinking lots of green tea, caynne pepper and cinnamon, to help with my cold. I am not too creative this week in getting a tip out. I am working on projects for christmas and such, ( on a zero budget) I am making something small for each of the kids and trying to set aside my paychecks so they can have a little cash for christmas too.
I did my TWT post last night before going to bed, so that I could post in the morning, well it is raining and hubby was home all morning so things were off schedule this morning, but here it is. Actually, my tip is more of a get paid to heat your house tip, but hey that works too.
I'm going to try that. I use Vapo Rub all the time, but I've had a nasty cold that I can't get rid of. I don't like drugging up either. I'm definitely going to try that tonight! Thanks for the tip!
