Jan. 1, 2009~ Show and Tell Friday~ Polar Bear Run ~
It's that time again....
On New Years Day Noah wanted to participate in the Polar Bear Run into our local lake. He was crazy brave to run into that icy water.
.
Here he is after he came out of the water and is all wrapped up.
.
Here he is changing out of his cold and wet clothes under his banket.
.
The nice thing was b/c it was a fund raiser for our local hospital they had chili by dontion. It was one of the best chili I have ever had.
.
I had to take some winter pics. Ohhhhh I just loved what I was able to get on my digital.
.
Noah and his cousin even got some time at the play park.
.
.
One more winter pic of the day.
.

"If mothers could learn to do for themselves what they do for their children when these are overdone, we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play!
If she would have the courage to let everything go when life becomes too tense, and just take a day, or half a day, out in the fields, or with a favourite book, or in
a picture gallery looking long and well at just two or three pictures, or in bed, without the children, life would go on far more happily for both children and parents.
The mother would then be able to hold herself in "wise passiveness’ and would not fret her children by continual interference even of hand or eye - she would let them
be." ...Charlotte Mason
I didn't realize he had to get into icy water for this run! That is crazy! I thought maybe it was a 5km run or something like that! Oh my! I'm glad he didn't freeze to death!
Oh, oh, oh! I saw people on the news last night plunging into the freezing cold water. I didn't think I would know anyone who would be so BRAVE (CRAZY). A surprising and quite appropriate S&T for a snowy day all around.
Those are some lovely winter pictures!
What a crazy boy you have!
Dd made me some earrings for Christmas, but I don't have the heart to tell her that I don't think I can wear them because my ears will react to the metal.
Wow, he is brave. You still have all your snow, we've lost over half of ours. We actually had rain today, very different. I'm liking seeing some grass though, it's kind of nice. We'll be covered with snow again soon, I'm sure. :)

This Southern gal wonders at your ability to be out in the weather with all of your clothes on AND dry. I cannot even fathom getting wet--ON PURPOSE! What a brave trooper!
Good Morning, my friend!! I loved reading about Noah's bravery (so that's what it's called in Canada, lol!), but appreciated even more all of the wonderful winter pictures you've posted. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I know you didn't do it just for me, but I also know you must have had a thought or two on how much I would enjoy them. ((HUGS)) You're the best!!!
We're headed to snow in 2 weeks and 4 days - can't wait!! Also can't wait to chat and catch up with you!!! I have so missed you, sweetie!!!
Bravo to Noah! I would totally be one of those crazy people in fact this is the only thrill seeking kind of activity I have ever thought I would do. But I put if off because nobody wants to see this fat lady in a bathing suit in the summer, never mind the winter! LOL I consider it a public service.
Noah should journal about his experience, he's going to want to tell his kids about this someday.
Blessings,
Cheryl
