Jan. 3, 2009~ Read the Bible in a Year ! ~
I am joining in on the fun with Suzyscribbles meme this year. She has made it so we can cheer eachother on in reading the bible in one year together. Go check out the details at Suzy's blog.
I only need to read tonight still from Gen. 5-9 . I am really excited about reading the bible in a year. I know God is prepping my oldest two boys and I for our short missions trip to Vanauatu ( in the South Pacific ) at the end of the year. Our very good friends Dave and Abby for Bibes For the Poor Society go and hand out bibles in their own lanuage and mountains have moved dramaticly. I still need to sit down and really share about this trip more. Details are to come!!! God has already started moving for us to go ! Please pray for our preperations to go and fund raising too.
"If mothers could learn to do for themselves what they do for their children when these are overdone, we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play!
If she would have the courage to let everything go when life becomes too tense, and just take a day, or half a day, out in the fields, or with a favourite book, or in
a picture gallery looking long and well at just two or three pictures, or in bed, without the children, life would go on far more happily for both children and parents.
The mother would then be able to hold herself in "wise passiveness’ and would not fret her children by continual interference even of hand or eye - she would let them
be." ...Charlotte Mason
I'm very excited about this too. I've never done anything like this before (well, I've read the Bible the whole way through, but I don't think it was in a year). I've never done a meme before and I think there is a lot of responsiblity to my bloggy friends to make sure I follow through every week. Please pray that I can do this . . . like next summer or fall when the way gets hard. :-)
You are such a great example of a consistent meme. God bless, SSIC.
Antoinette told me about the Narration Bible and I am going to get it. Sounds fun to read in chronological order. :-)
Wow how did you link up with the missionary trip? I am searching for something to do like that.
Reading the Bible: Our whole family is following the Torah portions now, and discussing them with a group on Sat. I'm in a yahoogroup that has a really good "deep and personal" commentary on it as well. We are going through Isaiah on Sundays with a family, and Acts on Friday nights with a group. Daily personal time in the bible is right off in the a.m. in the gospels, and we are now reading through Psalms and memorizing a few :-)
Our Creator's Living Word is the tree of Life, the seeds produce the fruits of the Spirit and obeying them bring blessings.
Love your signature ;-) glad you are still using those.
hugs
