~ Tightwad Tuesday ~ The MANY Uses of Baking Soda Part 1 ~

    .

    .

The MANY Uses of Baking Soda

    Part 1

I have come to REALLY appreciate baking soda over the years.  It is very "green" to use and ohhhh so very ecconomical too !  I am going to give a two part series of all the ways I have found to use baking soda.  I think it is one of a Tightwads best tools.

    .

    In The Home

    .

-Sprinkle it in the bottom of garbage bags

-Keep cut flowers fresh longer by sprinkling 1 teaspoon of baking soda in the vase water.

-Put out small fires on wood, rugs, appholstery, clothing, and grease fires.

-Repel cockroches by sprinkling under kitchen sinks.

-Suck into vacume cleaner to eliminate oders.

-Soak dishrags in baking soda solution to sweaten up sour cloths.

-Remove stains on wooden floors with a dampend sponge in a solution of baking soda and water.

-Refreshen smelly mop heads in 4 Tablespoons of baking soda and a gallan of water.

-Remove stains from sinks, toilets, and plastics by applying a layer of baking soda and then use a damp sponge to scrub.

    - To remove clothing stains work a soda and water paste prior to washing clothing.

-Eliminate bad oders in boots and shoes by filling up a sock from toe to heel  and knot it.  Place in offending shoe over night and you will be thankful.

-Make a room freshener by mixing baking soda and a perfumed bathsalts and fill a sachet bag to place where ever you want to freshen up.

-Wipe  car windsheild with baking soda and it will repel rain.

-Sprinkle in cats  litter box to improve the smell.

-Eliminate oders after pet accedent by sprinkling dampened spot with baking soda and let it dry and then vacume.

-Deoderise your pets fur by sprinkling on pets comb and comb their fur.

-Wash fruits and Veggies with baking soda in the water.

    .

    .

."There are only a few big ways to save money but there are many small ways ....that all adds up."

    .

    .

Please leave me a note to let me know you were here and  please go visit all these wonderful gals and read their TWT Tips .

you can use baking soda to remove permanent marker from wood...just make a little paste and it will scrub the offending mark away without scratching the wood!
