    ~ Weekly Wrap ~ May 9th ~

    .

(to join the fun head on over to Carol's by clicking the graphic)

    .

    From the Heart:

    .

I am trying to find a rhythum lately.  I need to pick three things in the morning, afternoon , and eve to get done.  Now pertaining  for the evening things to get done  I want to make sure they are things that are  creative and personal .  I find that if I don't have my creative and reflective time then I become resentful and  a grump-a-lump.  LOL,  if you haven't heard the word grump-a-lump it is b/c it was a word that I made up when I was a teen. ( and have used it ever sense )

    .

    On the Homefront:

    .

Yesterday they guys showed up to start digging the trench for water system.  Please continue to pray for our water system issues.  What I thought was a done deal isn't so done.  We are waiting for a signiture on some paper work.  Plus we are ironing out all the finances.  I can't go into it but it REALLY needs to be covered in prayer.

    .

    In the School Room:

    .

Bible: I have been reading and discussing "Created For Work" by Bob Shultz to the boys and I cannot say enough good and praise about this book.  It is a must for boys and girls ( and parents) will get a lot of wisdom and insight from these devoationals.   I want to get organized and going on "Christian Manhood" bible study with the boys asap.

Math:  We are moving along in our Math U See .  Philip -is in Algebra, Luke- is working on addition of mixed numbers with regrouping.

Noah- is doing division, multiple digit by multiple digit.

Nicolas- is skip counting by 2's and 10's, adding 2 and 3 digit addition problems, solving the unknown.

Reading: Luke and Noah are working through reading .  Luke is reading "By the Shores of Silver Lake" by L. Wilder to me and Noah is reading "Little House On the Prarie to me".  It is a tradion that we have done with all the boys.  To build flewency I have them read through all the books of Little House On the Prarie books with me.    Nicolas is working his way through his BOB Books and SSR&W books.  He is going to be starting book #2 "e" with me this week.  Noah is also reading Wind and the Willows on his own.

    .

    In The Craft Corner:

    .

     I need to get back to this.  With all the planting and tending to the plant starters this has been on the back burner.  I want to get back to knitting guantlets ( fingerless gloves) and I want to knit some cotton wash clothes.  I would also like to start some simple sewing projects soon.  I have a table on the side of my dinning room that I want to make into my sewing corner.  No room for a sewing room. [0;

    .

    In the Kitchen:

    .

I am learning how to make my own cottage cheese and ricotta cheese.  I also hope to try a hand at sprouts soon.  I am learning soooooo many neat things from Above Rubies.

    .

    In the Literary Scene:

    .

I need to take some time for Mom Culture as Karen Anderola coined it.  I am reading "Created to Be His Help Meet" by Debi Pearl.  Plus I am going to start off re-reading " A Charlotte Mason Compainion" by Karen Andreola.  After that I then have lots of other books that I have bought and need to read.  I don't need to buy any new books to read for quite a while. lol

:thinkThere is the reflections and ramblings for this week.

    .

"If mothers could learn to do for themselves what they do for their children when these are overdone, we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play! If she would have the courage to let everything go when life becomes too tense, and just take a day, or half a day, out in the fields, or with a favourite book, or in a picture gallery looking long and well at just two or three pictures, or in bed, without the children, life would go on far more happily for both children and parents. The mother would then be able to hold herself in "wise passiveness’ and would not fret her children by continual interference even of hand or eye - she would let them be." ...Charlotte Mason

Sounds like a some good ideas you have. I hope you get to get it all started and going like you want. And I'll continue to pray for your water system.

And yes, we'll have to ring, ring soon. With spring here, and our lessons finishing up, besides house hunting, my days seem to fly by. But I'll make some time soon. :)

Hi Mary. Sounds like a great wrap up! I'll be praying about the water situation. I'm so sorry this is still going on! I've heard a lot of good things about the book you mention-Created for Work.
Yum-ricotta cheese? I'll have to look that up! Holly

I love it! I can see so much more of what you are doing this way. Sounds like you had a great week and that your boys are moving right along in school.

I spent the day at the clinic today, and spent my lunch hour looking over HOW again... The Bible stuff looks so good!

I love coming here and reading your updates (even if I don't comment often). I get great ideas for things to do. Now if I can just put Micah down long enough to use BOTH hands for something.................

Hello! Had a very full day today. Hope your day was blessed. I make yoghurt cheese. Would love to try cottage cheese. Share it with us! We just finished watching Faith Like Potatoes. Great christian movie. A bit slow...but the message is oh so good. Based on a true story.

Hi, I stopped by from Carol's to see how others were wrapping up last week. You said a mouthful about finding a rhythm. I was thinking the same looking around the house at the ever-growing list of things to do, creative and otherwise. Not to mention that once I check something off my list, it or its close relative jumps right back on the list again--UUUGGGHHH!

May the Lord continue to bless you!

May. 11, 2009 - Nice to hear about your week.

It's nice to hear about your week. How old are your boys? For some reason I thought they were all older -like Jr. High and above). Does that created for work book have to do with girls too? I thought it was a book about boys. I hear you on being a grumpy bump if you don't get creative time - which for me is Photography or sewing when I can figure it out. Also, I always feel a need to "leave the farm" a couple days a week or I go crazy - which is one thing that makes being sick or having a broken arm (which is pretty much all better now) hard.
