I was told about 11 years ago by a dentist that if you would give each member in your family a new toothbrush each month then you could avoid a lot of dental bills. Seems too simple but it is a BIG saver ! And less discomfort too !
.
My friend Tina gave some great input....
Here are some facts on changing your toothbrush.
When
For the best results from brushing, you should replace your toothbrush:
At least every three months
When bristles begins to show wear
After an illness such as a cold or flu
Why
Reasons why you should replace your toothbrush frequently:
Toothbrushes just simply wear out
Toothbrushes are often worn enough to be replaced before they look worn
Bristles breakdown and lose their effectiveness
Worn and fractured bristles are a breeding ground for germs, fungus and bacteria
Worn toothbrushes can damage gum tissue
Children's toothbrushes
Require special attention and monitoring because:
Bristle wear occurs quickly because children often brush with uneven strokes
Children sometimes chew or bite on their toothbrush bristles
Did you know
People who wear braces should change their toothbrushes frequently because braces break down and fracture bristles and the toothbrushes lose their effectiveness.
A new toothbrush is 30% more effective at removing plaque.

"There are only a few big ways to save money but there are many small ways ....that all adds up."
"If mothers could learn to do for themselves what they do for their children when these are overdone, we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play!
If she would have the courage to let everything go when life becomes too tense, and just take a day, or half a day, out in the fields, or with a favourite book, or in
a picture gallery looking long and well at just two or three pictures, or in bed, without the children, life would go on far more happily for both children and parents.
The mother would then be able to hold herself in "wise passiveness’ and would not fret her children by continual interference even of hand or eye - she would let them
be." ...Charlotte Mason
I would assume it is b/c of the germs and the wear and tear on the tooth brushes. I have certain family members who like to chew on their toothbrushes.
Its true. Has to do with bacteria on the brush. We sanitize ours.weekly and get new ones four times a year.
On the whats for dinner meme...you can just post one recipe you will be using that week. The idea is for moms to be inspired to get out of the same o same o rut and try new recipes. Hopefully healthy versions of our old favorites! So sweet treats as well.I love your recipes! Even a bread recipe would be fabulous!
I did not post a TWT this week. Yep I have one but did not take the photo. So may post it with S and T.
I see the surgeon today...dreading this.
Hope your day is very blessed!!!!!

We have to get new toothbrushes often around here because that the kids are ill so often. The Dr. recommended that they get a new one after each illness to keep from recycling the germs.
My post is up at my blog, but I don't see a MR. Linky on your post.

Now that I know why, I'll probably do it. Thanks for that tip.
By the way, I can't find Mr Linky! I want to share a post about a wonderful cost effective language program for elementary grades, and I'm missing everyone else's tips. Sob, sob.
Thanks for hooking me up to Mr Linky. I learned a lot from the other ladies again and discovered some neat blogs.
I noticed a lot of the other blogs in Tightwad Tuesdays have little links at the bottom of their posts referring to TWT. I would just do that each week, referring to your TWT blog of that week, correct? Still learning all this bloggy stuff!
I think you will really enjoy the Language Lesson books! They are very CM-ish.

I did not know about this tooth brush information! I usually change tooth brushes when I have a cold. Yuck! I'll have to get us new ones next grocery store day.
