    ~ Weekly Wrapup ~ June 20th ~

(to join the fun head on over to Carol's by clicking the graphic)

    .

    From the Heart:

Its hard being a parent at times.  You get presented with so many things to weighout and have to deside what is good or not good for you and your family.  I wish I could go into more detail but I can't.  Please pray that Handsome and I can make sure that we are walking in the way the Lord wants us to and to do it.  Please pray for us to have desernment from the Lord.

    .

    :w.chopOn the Homefront:

    .

It has been a rainy week.  Personally I have really welcomed this with both arms.  I need to chance to start making desisions on our homeschool materials and goals.  A time to look at where we have been and where we need to go.  I have been purging and organizing our learning room too.  I plan to post some pics  of what the learning room looked before I started cleaning and where it is at the current date.  It will be on Monday's " Iv'e got the itch to pitch" meme.   My learning room will not be done in a week and I am not sure exactly how long it will take.  But I want to make it a place that we want to be and that will inspire the desire to learn.

    .

    :g.gateIn The Garden:

    .

We pretty much took a break this week.  It has been very wet and we have allowed God to water the plants and let them grow.  Handsome came down with a bad cold and I am glad he doesn't feel like he has to  get out in the garden.

Here is one of the flowers in bloom right now in my flower garden.  I wish I could remember it's name.

    .

    :fishIn the School Room:

We are in summer mode.  There will be reading, a bit of math, a lot of delight directed studies, and swim practice at the beach this summer. :beach

    :readMy Boys Read Out Louds:

Luke ...is reading "By the Shores of Silver Lake" by L. Wilder

     Noah... is reading Farmer Boy.

Nicolas.... is working his way through SSR&W books and  BOB Books.

     :readOur Read Aloud :

    .

The Young Fur Traders by ... R.M. Ballantyne

    .

    :m.glassNature Study:

    .

The boys have been having fun making a fort with what they can find around the homestead.  I will have to dig our my Handbook of Nature Study and make sure we do some kind of nature walk each week or some kind of fun assignment that they don't even realise it is a assignment.

    .

    :knittingIn The Craft Corner:

    .

I am almost done with the second sock and  I want to finish the other guantlet that I am knitting.  I have a bunch of small projects that I want to be working on.  I love that God gave some back door provisions of some yarn to make some neat things.

    .

    :cookIn the Kitchen:

    .

I will be making Handsome some pumpkin pie ( from mashed pumpkins that cooked and froze) for Father's Day plus a nice roast, potatoes, and veggies.

    .

    :picThis Weeks Boys Pics:

    .

This tree fell over and I had to show how big the root base was.

    .

    Weightloss Wednesday:

    .

I have walked the pounds away 3 times this week.  My goal is more like 4-5 times each week.  I lost all the weight I gained last week end on my road trip.  Now I just need to keep going in the right direction.   I really want to get serious with what I eat and eating 6 small meals a day to keep my metabolism burning efficiently.  I will have to write it into my schedule each week to plan meals and such.

    .

The House That God Built Update:

    .

Still waiting for the siding to be finished and the sofits to be put up.    Plus it looks like August is when the court date with our friendly neighbor.  Maybe God will surprise us and it to be fully worked out of court.  Only ..truly only God knows.  But we are being faithful and trying our best to follow God's leadings.  B/c of the late court time we will probably go one more winter on the well with Handsome's family.  God has been faithfully provided us water all the way through this whole ordeal,  thank-you God.

    .

Here is a pic from the top of hike close to where we are planning to put the water box. ( it is taken from our land looking down in the valley through the trees.)

    .

    .

Mother Culture:( for definition go HERE )

    .

My reading has been very slow and not much of it.  Life is full and the season to read again will come again soon.

    .

I took a momentary break from my other books to read one of my friend's new books.

"Treasures of Darkness finding a Hope Stronger Than Our Hurts" by Esther Mannuel.    go see her other books HERE

:thinkThere is the reflections and ramblings for this week.

"If mothers could learn to do for themselves what they do for their children when these are overdone, we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play! If she would have the courage to let everything go when life becomes too tense, and just take a day, or half a day, out in the fields, or with a favourite book, or in a picture gallery looking long and well at just two or three pictures, or in bed, without the children, life would go on far more happily for both children and parents. The mother would then be able to hold herself in "wise passiveness’ and would not fret her children by continual interference even of hand or eye - she would let them be." ...Charlotte Mason

    Mary,
You always amaze me at all you accomplish in your life and home throughout the week.

Yes, I will join with you in praying for your parenting decisions. May the Lord continue to bless you as you seek His will.
    Blessings,

Being a parent is so very hard at times. Praying for you! God will direct you and bless you.
We had tons of rain too. The weeds seem to grow faster than the seedlings. I did weed some today. All of us worked on the yard for an hour and it looks so much better. But everything is so soggy that weeding is doing more damage than good.
I love the photo from the mountain. Very pretty! Someday we hope to get the Canada. Our dream is to ride the train from East to West and then take the boat from Alaska to Seattle. Big dream!

Look at that tree! Did you figure out how old it was? It must have been very tall, too. Was it one of the huge varieties that the rest of us see only on pictures?

I love the view at your place! Just walking up and down a few times will keep you in great shape! :)

    Jun. 21, 2009 - Your week

    Posted by basketflat
Cool tree. Was that on your property? I think we will start being on more of a summer schedule starting this next week. Last week was mostly dance recital - mainly because, even though I love the actual recital - I always get stressed leading up to events like that. So glad you got the pounds back off. I haven't been on the scale. I'm sure I put some pounds back on though as I've been very undeliberate. It seems like to me that long hours of light during the summer solstice totally get me this time of year. I've been having insomnia - then during the day as a result, I've been dealing with anxiety. Pray for me in that area if you think about it. And, have a great relaxed summer and week.

I stumbled upon your blog from a search I was doing. I'm glad I did.

It's nice to meet families of all boys that are older. The Lord knows I need any advice I can get. *wink*

I also mashed and froze pumpkin in the fall - from our garden. Today we made chocolate chip pumpkin cookies. Yum!

Jun. 24, 2009 - Love the socks and the view!

    Posted by missionarymama
Great job on the socks. I am currently finishing up several knitting projects. I got what some call "second sock syndrome" for several months but I have finally been able to get into the second one now so I am looking forward to a new pair of socks. I have started taking pictures so I just need to post some of the finished off things.

I love the view from your land! So beautiful! Mountains but so different from the mountains here.

    Have a lovely week!
