Jun. 23, 2009~ Tightwad Tuesday ~ Saving On Computer Paper ~
.
Saving On Computer Paper
.
I have really enjoyed having a printer. There are so many things that I use mine for in homeschooling and soooooo much more. There are times that it would be cheaper to just read it on the computer but I am still like reading a printed copy with a cup of coffee and not to be bound to my computer time. To Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle this is what I have done with papers I don't want to keep or there was a mistake in the printing process I then put it back into the paper drawer to be printed on the opposite side. This has saved me from buying a lot of computer paper.
.
I also will make phone note pads for the phone by cutting the paper into fourths and stapling them together.
.
I am sorry for the late TWT post but I have to admit I spaced and had a lot going on.

Lets save our pennies, nickles, dimes, and dollars together !
.
"There are only a few big ways to save money but there are many small ways ....that all adds up."
"If mothers could learn to do for themselves what they do for their children when these are overdone, we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play!
If she would have the courage to let everything go when life becomes too tense, and just take a day, or half a day, out in the fields, or with a favourite book, or in
a picture gallery looking long and well at just two or three pictures, or in bed, without the children, life would go on far more happily for both children and parents.
The mother would then be able to hold herself in "wise passiveness’ and would not fret her children by continual interference even of hand or eye - she would let them
be." ...Charlotte Mason
My post is a review of a book that will potentially save you hundreds of dollars of curriculum mistakes and improve your home school as well.
I used to reuse one-sided paper, too,. However, my husband uses the same printer for work and he is not very pleased when his good copies have other info on the back! We now reuse the scrap paper for math calculations, doodling, brainstorming, rough drafts of things, etc. and then we recycle it.
We do the same thing. When something misprints of prints one line of nonsense, we keep it in a pile by the printer. The kids know it's available for their use plus we use it for reprinting, score sheets for games etc. It's very handy.
Just kidding, dearest...goodness, I make enough of those! Great idea to re-use before recycling that paper in the recycle bin! I'm all about putting mis-prints in the recycle bin rather than the trash, but not always good at saving the money by re-using it first. Thanks for the reminder!
I saw that you were online and decided to drop by. It's great that you're getting some rain--it's been as dry as a bone down here, to the point that the local authorities are beginning to talk water rations and heat advisories. Don't know how our gardens will fare this year.
I also use computer paper, once used incorrectly, as scratch paper for the kids. Our youngest loves to cut, write, and generally blow through paper. Scratch paper is always needed for her "projects" as well as to work with the older kids.
Great ideas!!! We let our children use our printing mistakes for their scrap paper.
On the other hand, I worked for a company once where the upper management had the tendency to turn paper over and put it back in the printer. Well, one day one of the salesmen didn't realize that had been done and printed out a 25 million dollar contract for the government on it. lol!!! He was so mad, he had to print the whole thing out again.
