~ Tightwad Tuesday ~ Getting Ahead And Being Creative With Points ~

    .

    Getting Ahead With Points

    .

I want to give a tightwad tip and also a show and tell too.  I really recommend to be creative in looking around your area.  Some people have those neat stores that between coupons and other instore deals you can get products or food for very little and almost nothing at times.  But sadly I don't have any of those kinds of stores in our area.  But do I have a great time saving of points we earn at our grocery store.  Each week different products in the store makes it so you can earn points towards getting things for free or a very good discounted price.  There are times you can trade those points for certian groceries that week.  We also can bring in certian recycables for points too at our store to earn points.  For example ...empty milk jugs  and other brand products that are sold at our grocery store (that we can earn points on). ( the stores name is Save On Foods/ Overweighty)  I have to add one little thing.  Do NOT buy things just because you can get points for it.  You have to be tightwad'ish and price smart and compair prices even during this type of thing.  It is still better to get the better price of another product than to just get points.  Be money smart and aware when do choose the points or the price.  We just cashed in some of our points and got a ....

    .

    A brand new Crockpot ! ( very first brand new one I have ever owned )  Patience is a virtue. [0;

    .

Look for other ways to earn points.  Air miles ( I find in our area that the things that you can get Air Miles are more expensive and are not worth it. )   is a neat way to some times get free things or trips.  But once again it only pays to earn the points when it is a truely a good deal.  Don't just go for the points because there are points to be had.

    .

To join in the fun of Tightwad Tuesday....

Lets save our pennies, nickles, dimes, and dollars  together !

    .

"There are only a few big ways to save money but there are many small ways ....that all adds up."

"If mothers could learn to do for themselves what they do for their children when these are overdone, we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play! If she would have the courage to let everything go when life becomes too tense, and just take a day, or half a day, out in the fields, or with a favourite book, or in a picture gallery looking long and well at just two or three pictures, or in bed, without the children, life would go on far more happily for both children and parents. The mother would then be able to hold herself in "wise passiveness’ and would not fret her children by continual interference even of hand or eye - she would let them be." ...Charlotte Mason

Great tip! I don't often use coupons because most of the time, they are for items I *don't* use. IOW, if I use the coupon, I am going to be spending $ that I don't normally spend. That's not being too tightwadish. :-)

Coupons rarely work around here, and I don't think we have a store that gives points. We do have an Airmiles card, and it builds up points very slowly, but it's getting up there.

Cool Crockpot! Thats the one with the timer? Its on my list! I have an industrial crock pot that a friend gave me years ago. It cooks a bit too fast but I love the size.

Thanks for the tip, Mary. And I love the crock pot - it looks like a really nice one. Your going to love that.

Sorry I haven't made it to S&T in a while. My internet has had problems and it's been a hit and miss. I was afraid that if I got a s&t up, I would have no guarantees that I could go visit everyone and then that would bother me. Perhaps I will be able to participate again soon.

I hope your enjoying your summer!

    Hi Mary!
I have had such a busy summer I haven't been able to participate in TT lately, but hope to get back in the swing of things again.
I wish we had points for items around here at stores. We do have gas points (buy 100 dollars before coupons and get 10 cents off each gallon of gas.)
    I like those.
    Hugs,

I think you could substitute mustard if you can use that. My cousin uses that sometimes because her father prefers potato salad with mustard.
BTW, those pictures of you are very pretty!

Nice use of your points! You are so wise to be cautious about points and even coupons. We have to be smart shoppers.
