Jul. 16, 2009~ Show and Tell Friday ~ Beginning to Harvest ~
.
It's that time a week again....
.
This week I thought I would give you a glimps of what I have been doing instead of blogging so much. I have been harvesting herbs( mint, oregano, basil), peas, strawberries, raspberries are starting to happen too. After all that I have started tying up plants that are going to seed. ( My Hubby, MIL, and I save seed to sell through our small local seed buisness.) Last year we packaged 2000 seed packages. I will be busy with the different stages of seed saving till Janary 1st.
.
Top left oregano, top right mint, bottom left is globe basil, bottom two trays are more mint.
.
If you want to join us in the fun of Show and Tell Friday just....
. ~Make a Show and Tell Post and make sure it is wholesome. It can be pretty much what ever you want to share. It could be about you ...or your family ....or what is going on in your homeschooling.

"If mothers could learn to do for themselves what they do for their children when these are overdone, we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play!
If she would have the courage to let everything go when life becomes too tense, and just take a day, or half a day, out in the fields, or with a favourite book, or in
a picture gallery looking long and well at just two or three pictures, or in bed, without the children, life would go on far more happily for both children and parents.
The mother would then be able to hold herself in "wise passiveness’ and would not fret her children by continual interference even of hand or eye - she would let them
be." ...Charlotte Mason
I can just smell the herbs! They are all so pretty. What a wonderful job!
I knew I would be so busy this summer ( I had no idea just how busy!) so we did not plant veggies. I did plant rosemary, basil, I have my mints, and lemon balms too. They are all around the back door and are a welcome scent as well as ready to use on the bbq. I do plan to get some photos of the new flower bed this weekend. In spite of the flooding it looks pretty. Alot of the seeds died and many did not come up where we planted them.
Your harvest is so nice! I can't believe I'm letting my cilantro go to seed without drying it, like I planned. This summer is a mess! I've been gone up north on the homestead and my garden in Enumclaw is suffering. I did get a ton of blueberries picked, but now the starlings have found it. They descend in hoards! I need my net back up, but it's too late. *do you hear whining here?*
At any rate, I'm FINALLY posting an S&T this week. A little late, but better than nothing.
And can you tell me what is going on with the Mr. Linky? How come it isn't working like the "old days"? I went over to the Homeschool Crew site and their Mr. Linky is working just fine (like the old days).
Just curious.
Well, I'm off to visit the other S&Ts. Have a great day, Mary!
These are wonderful! I have pictures of our okra, of which I was quite proud. Then I tasted them--at a certain length, they cook up like a bamboo stick! YUCK! Oh well, they look pretty. You obviously have had better luck. Happy eating!
Oh Mary, your garden grows so well. The harvest times have to be a joy to you and your family. Do you sell any of your herbs at a local farmer's market?
Blessings, Karen
Right now we just have enough for the two house holds. Maybe in the future we may but not for now. [0= I use the basil in a pesto for pizza instead of tomatoes that 3 of us are allergic to. That is a lot of basil that needs growing for a years worth. [0=
