Aug. 25, 2009~ Today's Verse Said It So Well ~
Tuesday August 25, 2009
Today's Verse:
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
The part that said ..."let us run with patience the race that is set before us." That is a good reminder of how we are to run the race.( living our life for God) We have a destination and we have to keep our eyes on it no matter what. We may have injuries, get tired, fall during our race to the end but if we keep our eyes on the prize ( heaven with our Lord) it makes everything else doable. We need to know that in the race we are not running it alone. God is the biggest cheerleader ever and he will come along side us and give us what we need. Just like someone in a running race will give the runner water and a word of encouragement during the run. I have learned to look for God's hand in what ever the circumstance is. I see this time how fast Philip was taken care of and put in a wonderful hospital with such WONDERFUL care. I praise the Lord that even in the storm he gives us something solid to hold on to and brings us to safety.
.
I will update as soon as I hear the results of Philips tests.
Thank you again for ALL the prayers and words of encouragement.

"If mothers could learn to do for themselves what they do for their children when these are overdone, we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play!
If she would have the courage to let everything go when life becomes too tense, and just take a day, or half a day, out in the fields, or with a favourite book, or in
a picture gallery looking long and well at just two or three pictures, or in bed, without the children, life would go on far more happily for both children and parents.
The mother would then be able to hold herself in "wise passiveness’ and would not fret her children by continual interference even of hand or eye - she would let them
be." ...Charlotte Mason
Such a timely reminder! Thank you! Hugs to you my friend. I am so glad your ds has gotton the best of care. The doctors missed Josh's mono....the first two visits. It was frustrating. He was so very ill. Praying for Phillip to heal quickly. So sweet that Essie made the trip to be with him...tell her no sharing drinks! ( most common way to get it)
Back to mowing the lawn...so much rain.
You have the right perspective on this. I remember like it was yesterday taking my 4 y.o. Nathan to the E.R. the day he was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes. It'll be part of his story when I post it (like I posted Bryan's story), but I'll just share with you something that still "gets me" today, 12 years later.
It was 2 or 3 in the morning, and I was laying in the hospital bed with him (remember, he was just 4...we could both fit in the bed, though it was "cozy!"). Neither of us were sleeping too well, I because my heart was broken, him because of the IV in his little arm and the board they taped to the arm to keep it straight and the IV safe. He looked over at me, and said, "Mom, why'd I get dy-beetees?" He didn't even know what it was...just that things weren't too much fun at the moment because he'd gotten this "thing." God gave me the gift of clarity in that moment, and I told him, "Nathan, I don't know exactly why you got diabetes. But I do know this: God loves you. He loves you even more than I do, and I can't even imagine what that much love must look like! And I know that God has a job for you to do someday. No one else can do it for Him...just you, because He made you for a purpose. And having diabetes must be a part of your training for the special job He has for you. For now, it's our job to start looking out for clues about what it is that He wants you to do for Him. I'll look with you, we'll pray and ask God to tell us what it is, and He'll show it to us."
You know, 12 years later, if Nathan were to ask me again, "Mom, why'd I get diabetes?", I wouldn't change that answer. Not one bit.
Mary, keep looking Heavenward to your Father, and tell Phillip and Esse and Handsome to do that, too. I have been praying that for you all, that He would reveal Himself to you in the most powerful way, to strengthen you and to bring glory to Himself in this situation.
May God bless you all, and heal Phillip soon so you all can be back together at home!
I was just checking in to see how your son was. That's a great Charlotte Mason quote - I'm trying to take that to heart this year. God's courage to you. :)

I'm sorry I didn't get by here til now.
Phillip will be in our prayers. I'm glad to hear that he is being cared for and will pray that the doctors have wisdom to make the correct diagnosis and in how to treat him.
I know your heart must ache terribly and it is so hard to be away from our children when they are sick and to trust others to care for them. I'll be lifting you up, sister.
