Sep. 17, 2009~ Show and Tell Friday ~ My Latest Knitting Craze...Booties ~
Life is getting a little more managable but still busy busy busy with harvest time and getting ready for the Christmas Craft Fair is starting up too. (let alone starting up our formal lessons of homeschooling has started) Last year I learned that no matter how full life gets I need to make time for my artistic bent. Knitting is very theraputic for me so during this time of year I find some what I call no brainer projects. They are projects that I can do with very little thinking but something that is fun too. Here is one of my latest crazes...knitting baby booties. No, I don't have any babies to make these for but I am going to be selling them at the Christmas Craft Fair in November ohh and a few friends babies will get a pair or two. So here is a sneak pre-view of them. I have a couple pairs sewn up now but most of them still need that final step of sewing. Plus, I am going to hand stitch some kind of emoidery stitch on the top of the toes to make them really sweet.
.
Now, if you want to join us in the fun of Show and Tell Friday just....
. ~Make a Show and Tell Post and make sure it is wholesome. It can be pretty much what ever you want to share. It could be about you ...or your family ....or what is going on in your homeschooling.
~Some how link me ( Mary @ Raising 4 Godly Men or Canadagirl ) so others will know where to go to join S&T.
~Come back to me and let me know you posted your S&T by clicking on the MckLinky and using your exact URL to your Show and Tell Post. ( I need you to tell me each week that you want to participate, okay ? )

"If mothers could learn to do for themselves what they do for their children when these are overdone, we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play!
If she would have the courage to let everything go when life becomes too tense, and just take a day, or half a day, out in the fields, or with a favourite book, or in
a picture gallery looking long and well at just two or three pictures, or in bed, without the children, life would go on far more happily for both children and parents.
The mother would then be able to hold herself in "wise passiveness’ and would not fret her children by continual interference even of hand or eye - she would let them
be." ...Charlotte Mason
I love the 'no-brainer' patterns for knitting. Between using up scrap yarnballs and not having a whole lot of brain power left at the end of the day - there are alot of slippers that come out of my knitting bag, too!
of my own baby shower for my daughter. My mom spent months knitting baby booties for each person. Everyone got a pair of them stuffed with candy for a favor. It was very sweet.
Very cute!!!! I too have picked up the knitting needles as a stress relief...and to fulfull the need to be creating. I am still on hats and scarves but at least now I can understand how to read a pattern. I found a really neat knitting community on line. Will share it with you in an email. Lots of patterns for free. Lots of photos. Tons of ideas.
Very sweet! They would make a lovely gift for any baby. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. We are off to the lake for a few days. This is our last trip as a family this season. It's getting too cold during the night for a tent!
(((hugs)))
Jenn
I *love* the baby booties! They are so sweet. You're slowly talking me in to taking up knitting. Maybe after the holidays and I can focus a bit better without thinking of all the things that need to be done. :)
Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!
love,
Shani xxx
Hey, I have some friends that are hosting some giveaways on their blog over the next couple weeks. Come check out their blog! They're such creative people, plus they love the Lord! (I know them personally!)

Mary, thanks so much for your prayers. I believe they really are working. I am feeling so much better. Though my chest hurt this morning as I was heading out to work, it didn't last long.
Dh's work is still very slow, so we are continually praying for an increase there.
I agree, especially as a woman, we have to take time for our creative pursuits. I read this from Harmony Art Mom first about a year or two ago. It so resonates. Whether it is knitting booties or sewing or drawing or photography or decorating - whatever thing you get lost in. It really renews us.
It's good to know what you need to do for yourself, even when life is busy we still need to do things for ourselves. Love the booties very cute.
Blessings,
Dusti

I am back from vacation. So, I am visiting bloggy friends 2nite. I LOVE those baby booties. So sweet!!!!!!!! I have every pair my babies were ever given. Those handmade items always meant so much to me. I also love the little toes that go into those sweet booties. Makes me smile.
Be blessed,
Chasity
OK, so I get it that you're not knitting them for any babies in your home, but come on...you're THINKING about them, mmm-hmmm!!!
I'm happily awaiting tea cup/mug cozy patterns! This is not a "hurry it up" comment...we're all crazy busy! It's just a "I'm so happy you'll $hare it with me" comment! (No, that's not a typo on $hare...means I'm buying it!)
Those look similar to a pattern I have. So fun and cute! My current knitting craze is knitting little pants for Micah and Caroline. Maybe I will get a post up later in the week. I tweaked a pattern I had for newborn longies, and am quickly going through my scrap stash. They are so easy and fun.
