Hour Long Bread Rolls ( or bread loaf)
You can tell it is fall when I start blogging about baking. We are at that time where we light a fire to just warm the house and let it go out. We are not at the point yet where we have to keep it going. But the other solution to warming the house is to....bake. Yesterday we hoasted the family Thanksgiving dinner and we squished 23 of us into our house. It was so fun and yummy ! I got to light my gord candles and I was so tickled pink. They were burning for 3 hours and hardly burned that much of the candle.

One of my jobs is to make the bread rolls. I really like to do the clover leaf shape. That is when you make 3 dough balls and put it in a buttered muffin tin and it bakes into the shape of a clover leaf. [0= Here is the recipe.

Mix four cups of flour and the yeast, sugar, and salt. Then pour in the hot water and beat for about 3 minutes with hand mixer or KitchenAide. Stir ( or mix) in remaining flour until the dough is not sticky. Knead the dough for about 8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl and cover with a damp tea towel. Let the dough rise for about 15 minuets, punch down , and shape into rolls.
.
Bake at 425* for 12 minutes

The funny part of this story was when I was getting ready yesteday for all my guests to arrive. I was working really hard to clean and make room for the tables. I had to take a shower and it dawned on me that I had forgotten to make the dough for bread rolls. I was racking my brain what I was going to do. I had even thought of going and buying the rolls...gasp ! But then all of a sudden it was like a light bulb came on. I can make the hour long bread rolls ! This recipe is a good money saver to begin with but if it prevents you from going and buying rolls it is even better !

I know my friends that live to the south of the border can still benifit from this recipe for their Thanksgiving dinner in about a month and a bit. [0=

"There are only a few big ways to save money but there are many small ways ....that all adds up."
"If mothers could learn to do for themselves what they do for their children when these are overdone, we should have happier households. Let the mother go out to play!
If she would have the courage to let everything go when life becomes too tense, and just take a day, or half a day, out in the fields, or with a favourite book, or in
a picture gallery looking long and well at just two or three pictures, or in bed, without the children, life would go on far more happily for both children and parents.
The mother would then be able to hold herself in "wise passiveness’ and would not fret her children by continual interference even of hand or eye - she would let them
be." ...Charlotte Mason
