Flu Update:
Well I have 3 almost 4 sickies in the house. My oldest, hubby, and I are trying to ward off the flu with tinctures every two hours. So far it has been working.
Not much schooling this week. Thank goodness I have some G.A. Henty books on CD and MP3's. So they are having fun in history this week.
Aug. 3, 2007~ Show and Tell Friday ~A peek into our outside schooling... my squash beds ~
I want to share my most favorite things to plant in the garden. My....squash plants. I love things that grow on vines. I have a thing for vine plants if it be climbing roses ( plant in the future....spring time sounds good) to pumpkins. Today is showing my plants that I started waaaaaay back before we could even do anything outside in the garden. Meaning my plant table that my older brother made me.
They started as small as this....
Then they grew to this....
Then....this big....
Now, here they are... bigger. We still have up till late September and maybe into October for these to grow nice and BIG.
One other thing I LOVE to grow in my garden is Basil.
I thought this little guy or gal was to cute to not take a pic of.

This afternoon I went up to our homestead ( at my mother in laws). She has a HUGE patch of rubarb . I had pulled out two garbage bags full of rubarb, and I had only got half of what I needed to get done.In the process of cutting the leaves and ends off I accedently thought my finger was a rubarb stem.Now you are probably thinking what in the world it this woman going to do with all this rubarb? Rightly so. I am going to make" Rubarb Aide" , it is like lemon aide but it's rubarb. There is a local market that we can sell it for a good price, people really like it, it's really goooood.It was really nice to have my boys be involved in this small business adventure. It's nice we can involve a math lesson ,among people skills, and among other lessons. Life School is so good.A day well done.

To make the juice:
cut cleaned rubarb into 2 inch lenghts ( 5cm's) and freeze them( to help break down the fibers). Then fill your pot with the frozen rubarb. Fill with water till it just covers the rubarb. Bring to a simmer till the rubarb just begins to break down. Cool, strain and reserve juice . Reheat juice to pasturization and add honey or other sweetener to taste. Can or freeze juice. Enjoy

a wife to my Handsome of 17 years. A mom of 4 on the go boys 15, 13, 9, and 7. I grew up in the states but married my Canadian sweetheart and moved up north.
We live in the southern part of British Columbia , Canada on our homestead. We have homeschooled our four boys from birth and plan to go the distance till all four graduate from our homeschool. I teach with a Charlotte Mason style and use the Heart of Wisdom Approach. I love to craft! I am a beader, knitter, x-stitcher, quilter. We have been on a journey of being apart of building "The House that God Built". I have been recording our journey on my blog. Go to my links and you will find it. I know God has a lot more instore for us and we just need to follow where our Lord takes us.
