~ Something To Share~Having A Heart To Finish The Journey ~

First I want to wish ...

Mothers Day Comments

Now I have...

Having A Heart To Finish The Journey

I have been reading Sally and Clay Clarkson's books for years.  I have grown in such adoration for them.  When I had no mentor for our hs journey and or fellowship with other like minded couples in the journey of  homeschooling.  I had held onto reading and rereading their books.   With me being a mom who for the first time is moving into the world of teens young adults I am in a new arena of learning about relationships.

I want to stress if you have young adults in your family please, please, please read this article by Sally Clarkson from Wholehearted Ministries

Go HERE

It is soooooo easy to feel tired, weary, you feel your job is done and you want to let someone else finish the job of educating your child.  If you feel that way when your child is between ages 5 to 18 then please go and read this.  You will feel rejuvinated and you can keep going on the road that the Lord called you on.  I was hitting burnout the last year or two. ( I never wanted to throw in the towel but felt dry)   But I remember crying out to the Lord I needed Him to fill my cup and over flow it.  Here I thought He would give me a small and steady trickle but NO he gave me a river !  I have to remember we have a BIG God and we have to expect that He will do BIG things in our lives.

I am still being rejuvinated but I know that He is leading me now in the way I need to go with my homeschooling.  I am starting to reap the seeds I have sown so long ago. ( 15 years almost 16 years now)  I am getting a chance to enjoy my oldest like I always hoped.  PTL!  Our family still has some more growning pains to go through but if we look to the mountains and KNOW where our strength comes from. ( The Lord)   We will be victors because of Christ and not us.

~ Something to Share~Mama Needs To Write Too ? ~

Mama Needs To Write Too ?

This last couple of weeks I have been listening to Cindy Rushton through her Talk-a-latte  "Charlotte Mason Primer" and "Language Arts Easy Way".  And BOY have I been blessed.  I am still using Robin Sampora's "Heart of Wisdom" and these really compliment eachother.  Both use a lot of the Charlotte Mason methods.

One thing that was pressed on my heart by Cindy ( also Charlotte Mason's writings) and what I have been doing differently in the last couple of weeks in my homeschool.   Is... when my kids are doing copy work I am sitting down too and doing copy work.  I am coping down scripture.  Sitting and taking it in and then I move into journaling while my little's are  doing their copy and writen work. I am writing while they are writing.   That has made such a wonderful change in our little homeschool.

In four days I will have been blogging for two years.    I can't believe that much time has passed !  I have been really trying to stretch myself in my writing skills through blogging and now I am trying to learn through other ways too.

Homeschooling isn't ONLY for kids !  Mama's gets to learn too!

I've seen a  big improvement in my own personal spelling and I hope in my writing too.  It is SO true when you hear people say "the best way to learn to write is to write."    I have seen that very truth in my own personal self.  It re-affirms this to me and it encourages me to keep going on in this.  I really hope to expand on this and other things that I am learning, trying to empliment  and what we are being sooooo blesssed by.

Homeschool is a journey for the WHOLE family.

Thank you for letting me share with you

BE BLESSED

~ Something to Share~Keeping The Balance ~

What is balance ?

In everything in life we need to find a balance.  We should find a place of serving the Lord but without being legalistic.

But what is legalistic ?  I think that is when we take our eyes off the Lord and  serving the "way" rather than the Lord.  I don't mean not following things what the Lord has instructed us to do.  The Lord gives us what is best for us and what is good for us.

The Sabbath or Lord's Day ( the day we rest and worship the Lord in a very focused way) can be such a blessing.  A time of reflection.  A time to draw close to our God and Lord.  Once we start worring "if" we are serving "enough" or in the "right way" that is not where we need to be.  Let us focus on ways we can draw close to our Lord.  I try to make this time a time to pray blessings upon my children.  A time to listen to what God wants me to hear.  I  have asked the Lord what book(s) or verses the he wants me to read and I have found numerous of times that he has led me in my readings and then the sermons that I have heard at church all connect and support a message.  A message in which I really needed and need to sit up and take notice of.

Then there is a balace in homeschooling.  I personally have found I'm not to be in a program like a charter school or DL program.  I find if I do then ....I am more worried about what man thinks of what we are "doing" than God.  And what He wants us to focus on and learn.  We do use a curriculum but if we feel led on a rabbit trail or a different direction than we have planned. I then don't worry about the curriculum tyrant (sp?)...  "Everything in moderation even moderation."

I just want to stress that we need to be in a place of serving our Lord wholeheartedly in what ever we are doing rather than serving a "way".  May your daily walk with the Lord to be blessed and what He has called you to do be in "balance" and led by ...HIM.

Blessings and ((hugs)) my SS'sIC
