Five in a Row
For the month of January we are rowing all books about SNOW! The books we are using (going along with our Five in a Row curriculum) are: Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost, Snowflake Bentley, Katy and the Big Snow, and The Big Snow.
A few days ago we began reading the poem by Robert Frost entitled Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. This book with illustrations by Susan Jeffers is just beautiful! The illustrations are wonderful; Hannah and I have enjoyed finding the animals hiding in the snowy pictures! We are learning about poetry as we read this poem throughout the week.
Today we cut out snowflakes from coffee filters. We are hanging them on windows and doors! The girls and I had a good time opening up our creations to see how beautiful and unique each one of them was. We noticed how different yet pretty each one was...and discussed how awesome God is to give us such a lesson through a snowflake! God is so neat to give us such beautiful lessons! So, I say...let is SNOW let it SNOW let it SNOW!

My daughter will love this idea of making snowflakes from coffee filters. Thanks for posting.
Happy New Year,

PS We used 5 in a Row for Preschool and Kindergarten. I miss it!
