Thankfully, my day had a great ending! I've been looking forward to tonight for a month now! What would I be so excited about??
A bread making class! YAY! You may already know that I've been using freshly milled flour (thanks to Melissa for grinding it for me each week!) for awhile now. I "cheat" and use the bread machine. But, I've been wanting to learn more! A lady who has been baking bread for 25 years, who has 9 children (I think?) and homeschools teaches this class 2-3 times a year and I was thrilled to be able to go!
She showed us how to bake quite a few things...and of course we got to sample it all as well! So....now, I'm REALLY wanting to get a big heavy duty stand mixer as well as the grain grinder that I've been hinting about. These are not low dollar expenses though...so we'll have to see!
Here is what we made and sampled tonight! (A carb addicts dream!)
*homemade whole wheat bread
*banana bread
*brownies
*cinnamon raisin bread
*english muffins
*tortillias
*garlic dinner rolls
*pizza crust and homemade sauce
*pizza bread
*braided breads
*cinnamon rolls
Yummmmm...that room just smelled heavenly!
Oct. 18, 2007 - Just visiting
I was just visiting blogs and came across yours. I noticed you were married the same year as my daughter.http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/mommatolittleones/ You might want to visit her blog. She has 4 little ones.
By the way, your kids are adorable. Even though I have nine and the youngest is now 6, I miss having those little ones around.

Oct. 19, 2007 - What fun!
I have wanted to go to a bread making class. I tried to go to one before making the splurge and just buying the mill, but was never able to do it. Your class sounds like a lot of fun! I wish I knew how to make all of those things.
I am a carb addict and my family loves freshly made whole-wheat goodies. I bet yours will too!
Love,
Leslie

I'm impressed! Sounds like it would have been a lot of fun! ;) I love to cook but haven't ever tried the homemade bread all that often. My in laws make their bread everyday and it is really yummy! They are from Germany and they say all "our" bread is mush...they like the hard crusted kind! :)
