CANDY MATH!

Posted in Holiday Times

What to do with all that CANDY from trick-or-treating? Why, MATH of course!  We are just finishing up our math with our halloween candy, here are a few things we did today!

*put the candy in rows of 10 and then counted it all by 10's - we had 290 pieces!

*sorted by groups - chocolate bars, gum, suckers, m&m's, chewy candies, hard candies, sweet tarts, etc.

*found which group had the most - suckers!

*found which group had the least - gum!

*drew pieces of candy in our math journals

*EAT candy! We had to count what we ate for *additional* math practice.

Great lesson!

My brother and I use to dump all of our out on the floor and seperate it in pile. Keep, trade and give to daddy ;) Daddy ate teh things that we didn't like such as mary jane's and peanut logs :)

Look at that peanut butter cup haul!!

Fun math...maybe that's what we should do this afternoon, but I know that my 2yo will never let them be in rows like that!

Nice job : )
