Our choir is singing the worship musical that was written from the book by Max Lucado, 3:16. (I have not read the book yet...our church library is getting quite a few copies in soon, I am anxious to read it. Have you read it?) The music is simply wonderful. It is arranged by Travis Cottrell if that tells you anything! Each week in choir practice all my worries, fears, doubts and overwhelmed feelings just melt away as I praise the Lord. It makes me wonder why I don't leave praise music on more often at my house! There is something about just praising the Lord! I am offering a sacrifice of praise to my Lord...but oh how He blesses me!
If you have an opportunity to hear this choir production anywhere in your area, I would strongly recommend it. There is one song in particular that has left me in tears each of the times we have practiced it. It is called What a Friend. It is a medley of several hymns, and the choruses just build and build...and I cannot help but want to jump up and shout --- Thank you, JESUS, that I do have a friend in You. A perfect friend...a friend that will never leave me...a friend that will never talk badly of me...a friend that will never think badly of me...a friend that is there all the time. The perfect friend. Hallelujah!
If you click HERE you can listen to samples. Click on What a Friend...or any of the songs...and be blessed as you remember all Jesus did for you...And that He calls you friend!
Here are the words:
Jesus! what a friend for sinners!
Jesus! lover of my soul!
Friends may fail me, foes assail me,
He, my Savior makes me whole.
Hallelujah! what a Savior!
Hallelujah! what a friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving, He is with me to the end.

I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene,
and wonder how He could love me,
a sinner, condemned unclean.
How marvelous! how wonderful!
and my song shall ever be;
how marvelous! how wonderful
is my Savior's love for me!
~~~
Man of sorrows! what a name
for the Son of God who came
Ruined sinners to reclaim!
Hallelujah, what a Savior!
Lifted up was He to die,
it is finished, was His cry;
Now in heav'n exalted high,
Hallelujah, what a Savior!
Hallelujah, what a Savior!
Hallelujah, what a friend!
Hallelujah, what a Savior!
Hallelujah, what a Friend!
~~~
When He comes our glorious King,
All His ransomed home to bring,
then anew this song we'll sing:
Hallelujah, what a Savior!
Hallelujah, what a Savior!
Oh what a Savior!
