Yes, It's About Bible Notebooks - Again!

I can't help it!  We love our Bible notebooks!

Here is an old post concerning Bible notebooks.

I thought that since I'm sharing one of my Bible studies, it would be a great time to bring up the subject of Bible notebooks again.

My kids are copying out of the Gospel of Luke.

They each spend ten minutes a day just copying out of the Bible.

The results are almost unbelievable!

The kids are memorizing Scripture, asking thought provoking questions, learning to write grammatically correct sentences, working on penmanship, and learning to spell correctly in just ten minutes a day!

This is low cost, minimal time, and highly educational learning!

It is also a very natural way of learning.

As soon as my kids start to learn to write - they write!

They copy everything they see without my directing them to do so.

Make sure you have plenty of paper on hand, though. How many of

your little ones practice their newly acquired writing skills on the walls,

the doors, the table, the......?

Need a place to keep all of that Bible copy work?

Boy, do I have the perfect place!

Have them start a Bible notebook.

I absolutely love our Bible notebooks.

All you need is a three-ring binder and some loose-leaf paper.

First, make a Table of Contents. Number and name all of the books of the Bible. Next, make title pages for each book. Ours also give the relationship that Jesus has to that book.

 For example:

         Genesis

   Jesus is the Seed

Stick numbered tabs on  each one of the title pages . Make sure that the numbers match the ones in the Table of Contents. This way it's a cinch to find the book you're looking for.

Then simply file all of your memory work, copy work, notes, favorite Scriptures, etc. in the right "book".

Hand your kids a Bible and a timer. Tell them to copy out of a certain book for a certain amount of minutes. At our house, it's Luke for 10 minutes (right now anyway).

For younger kids, you may want to copy down a certain amount of work, then have them copy from that. Just handing them a Bible and saying go to it may be too overwhelming.

Additional ideas could be:

- have kids read a chapter out of the Bible, then narrate or write a summary of that chapter.

- have kids listen to Bible  "stories" and write or narrate what the story was about. Littler ones could just draw the story.

-add a "read through the Bible" chart to keep track of

all of the chapters and books read in the Bible.

-add a section to keep information concerning missionaries read about.

- add a section of favorite Christian songs and hymns

When finished, you will have a wonderful keepsake.

Copying scriptures is a great way to memorize them. When my husband and I went to bible college, we had to type out our memory verses 3 times each. It was a lot of typing, but it amazed me at how it seemed to stick in our heads.
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
II Tim. 2:15

This is great. We use the Bible for our copy work a lot too. We have been working on Psalms and now we're doing prayers of Paul. I usually go to Biblegateway and get the verses I want. Then I increase the font size and my daughter copies from there. No need to strain her eyes. I like how you organize everything. :) Have a nice rest of the week! Miiko
