Mar. 18, 2009 - Why not to smoke
Here are a few posters from the American Cancer Society:

The first one is actually in the health book that I did this year for homework. The health book is published by ABeka and is called Health in Christian Perspective.
Who would want to waste their lungs away? Some people probably don't realize that they're killing themselves slowly. Some people probably do realize it but don't care or at least don't make much of an effort to stop.
Smokers are more likely to die from lung cancer, oral cancer (at least in males), esophageal cancer, pancreatic cancer, and bladder or kidney cancer, than people who don't smoke. Doesn't that sound tempting? Oh yummy!
We as Christians should remember what Romans 12:1 says:
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service."
Doesn't that verse say it so perfectly? Of course, it shouldn't be too suprising to us since God is the founder of logic, reason, and truth. It's just amazing!

Mar. 7, 2009 - Baby Zebra Finches
Yes, there is more than one - there are five! Here are some pictures of them.
One day older than they were in the above picture:

This is basically how they look now:

They are going to be old enough to leave the parents in about a week.

Feb. 18, 2009 - Baby Zebra Finch
Today I saw at least one baby zebra finch in the nest. There might be one more baby and one or two more eggs. We're not sure how many eggs there were and when the one that's in there was born. We don't have any pictures yet, but when the baby (or babies) get older, we will probably be able to get some pictures and then I can put them on here. |

Feb. 6, 2009 - Photos!

Female Zebra Finch that my parents bought about 3 weeks ago.

Male Zebra Finch that my parents bought at the same time as the female above.

There is a nest in the cage and some nesting material (strings). The male did most of the work of making the nest and there might be an egg (or more) in it! Zebra finches sit on their eggs for about 2 weeks, so we'll know if there are eggs if they hatch!!! :) |

Dec. 23, 2008 - Pets
Here are some photos of my guinea pigs. Also, there is one photo of one of our cats, Willie, and of another cat which was hanging around for a week or so.
Almond

Rosemary

Have not "officially" named - maybe Charlie? Has one of the best personalities out of all the pigs!

Pansy - I'm giving her to my younger sister for Christmas

Willie - a norwegian forest cat - one of our family cats (the only one who is allowed to come inside usually and has a good personality)
Cat that was hanging around for about a week or two (the leading name that we chose for it was "Jingle Bells", but one of my brothers likes "Muffin" better):

Dec. 23, 2008 - Flowers from my birthday
On December 3rd, I turned 16. All my presents except for about 4 had to do with flowers/plants.
Christmas Cactus from my parents

Roses from my father

Pot of flowers from my grandparents
I was also given a kit for planting Paperwhite Bulbs. When those bloom, maybe I will put some pictures on here of them for you to see.
Oh, and look at this:
(found in our Christmas candy)

Redeemed, how I love to Proclaim it
Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child and forever I am.
Refrain:
Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.
Redeemed, and so happy in Jesus,
No language my rapture can tell;
I know that the light of His presence
With me doth continually dwell.
Refrain
I think of my blessθd Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long:
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.
Refrain
How Great Thou Art
Author: Carl Bobert
Date Written: 1886
O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Chorus:
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
Chorus
When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.
Chorus
And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.
Chorus
When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"
Chorus
I was given this award by Pip. Thank you, Pip! :)
